Diamond or Signature

Which one do you generally like more?

Overall I’d say it’s kind of dependent, there are some I really like and dislike for signature cards whereas diamond cards are always just kind of good, but some of the signature cards really blow me away like what we got in Path of Arthus/ Lich King. Unpopular opinion but the greyscale alternate arts with the blue tint really gets me going.

I like signature more. For some reason ive never liked too much diamond cards. 3d on cards and heroes is still not convincing me personally.

In this case, I’d probably default to ascend0’s position: the sheer variety of styles and options for both Diamond and Signature means that there is no good way to know when you’ll really like one of the Diamond or Signature options, or when you won’t like them at all.

That being said, based purely on how their different presentations look on the board, I probably have a slight preference for the current iteration of Signature or Diamond. (The first round of Signatures in MotLK, I feel, was largely below the standard of Diamonds at that time.)

But either way, it depends very strongly on how much I like the alternate art chosen for either option.

Edit: Even within my largely negative opinion of the MotLK Signatures, I’d like to point out that my biggest issue is probably with the Blood Elf Signatures being ‘Scourgified’ just like the actual Scourge ones. If they had split the two factions into two different appearances that more closely matched their themes, I probably would have like the MotLK Signatures much more.

I can see going mono-tone sepia for the actual Scourge cards, but making their Blood Elf opponents have the same color scheme seemed really off.

Plus, having two different Signature looks in the first set with Signatures would have done a much better job at showing everyone how flexible the Signature look was intended to be long term.

Diamonds are far better in my opinion. Signature cards are too dull, and doesn’t have the shiny effects. But the taste of art varies between individuals.

I’m gonna say Golden cards. Since it has distinct glow to it. Plus Signature is bit like shadowverse cards and Diamond is just more animations with the sparkles.

I’ve already been bankrupted out of decks i used to play for consuming 20k-40k dust when the f2p rate of base dust excess might be like only 2-5k dust/expac without dust nerfs, if you even reach those amounts no nerfs without dusting lol.

I don’t have spare money to put in the shop to care about 30$ card versions. Though i imagine some people buy them, considering i saw some people go for gold decks in wild and twist and classic sometimes and a few diamond renos here and there, and own a diamond 3/5 Korrak.

I do have to say, i agree, Depends on the card. Diamond reno? Urrgh… Honestly, i’m not the biggest believer in negative space, or negative animation. But there’s a lot of balance between a beautiful artwork, akin to watching light trickle through a stained glass painting.

Then there’s the diamond reno card, Making reno look like he’s gonna detatch his neck and eat me any moment.

Signature cards, MOTLK was flaming garbage, Festival was okay but mid, Titans signatures actually look pretty good, and i was lucky enough to open Raden.

If dust amounts stay the same, i’d happily convert every MOTLK signature into just a normal 1600 dust golden, or hell even a regular legendary with same dust value. MOTLK signatures were a failure. I’d probably keep Titans signatures. Though identifying class and also the potential to confuse opponents by playing extremely niche and powerful if ignored / not understood effects on sigs can definitely trip up everyone i feel like.

I didn’t play my Signature Raden past a tavern brawl, but whenever i played him, nobody usually knows what he does until it happens while normal cards always get responded to, no matter how niche.

I feel like signatures are cool collector pieces, but the text is perhaps obfuscated too much. It might be good for beginners if the text at least faded during battlecries/deathrattles for the first second a signature was played, then slowly faded out.

I do have to say, Diamonds for the most part are hit or miss.

Good diamonds: Korrak, Alganon. Maybe the cool but not disturbing ones with neat effects. The ones that feel alive, but aren’t overly bouncy or doing random crap for sake of LOOK AT ME!!!, MY JAW IS DETACHING.

GOD WHY diamonds: Reno!

If i can get one or the other free and dust the rest to make other cards i’ll take whatever i can get. It’s nice that the Signature cards take the place of commons so they aren’t stealing slots for the high value cards. So that’s really nice.
