Design Philosophy and OTK Solitaire

Blizzard please rethink your design philosophy and consider going back to your roots.

OTK Solitaire and Roulettestone isn’t fun. Try to make the game like chess again.

Edit: Strategy and board interaction are what keep players engaged.

View recent expansions as a design experiment and move forward.

I can’t stay in this bad relationship much longer.

The key word being “interactive.”

You guys have opponents?

I haven’t really noticed if I did or not…

Continues suiciding as Warlock

A possible solution to combo decks that ignore the board and play burn from hand could be to print tech cards that protect the hero. Maybe a card that provides stealth to the hero while alive or even outright immunity (like Mal’Ganis). This would force the decks to interact with the board and act like a “taunt” for spell based decks.

Except the problem is that most tools that protect against or disrupt combo are given to some of the most consistent offender classes (Rogue and Warlock in particular). What we need are more neutral combo disruption options in the vein of Dirty Rat and Loatheb. The watch posts aren’t terrible, but they’re slow, easily removed, and fight on only one axis. Give us a minion that prevents players from drawing more than one card per turn. Give us a minion that says that cards can’t cost less to play than their original cost. Give us a card that limits the number of cards that a player can play in one turn. Things like that would go a long way to keeping these insane combo decks that draw through their entire decks and play a ton of free or heavily discounted cards in a single turn from being so oppressive.
