Deck of Lunacy is Busted and Dumb, Nerf it

The fact that a deck playing all RANDOM spells is tier One right now is enough to warrant a nerf but I`ll point a few other things

-You can`t play around every random spell in the game, so the skill required in this matchup is minimal. You just drop your things on the board and PRAY they dont have the perfect answers( which they usually have)

-They can discover extra copies of Deck of Lunacy , so it`s a consistent early turn play despite being a legendary spell

-Deck of Lunacy cheats way way more mana than any druid can. When a druid ramps, he is only ahead in mana until the other player reaches 10 crystals. Deck of Lunacy guarantees you will have mana advantage for the rest of the match If you cast 3 spells a turn , it is like having 9 more mana than your opponent, every turn, for the rest of the game. This is just insanity!

-The spell pool that costs 5 or more right now is so strong . Theres an incredible high chance they will find something that draws a bunch of cards like sprint, skull of guldan or Nourish. From that point on it`s basically gg . they will play multiple impactful spells each turn like Cenarion Ward Deep Freeze, Nagrand Slam, Arbor Up…

-The card has the second highest winrate as a keep in mulligan(69%) If you see a mage playing it on turn 2, or 1 with coin, be aware that you probably already lost the game.

-This is the first day of the season and the Legend rank is plagued with this deck for a reason. Its too strong with little effort. Watch any streamer like Dog if you don`t believe it.

No random deck should grab wins that consistently. IT NEEDS A BIG NERF ASAP

I predicted that the nerf complaints would come within two days of release.
I feel like a psychic.

Of all decks, I never thought I’d see a Deck of Lunacy Mage nerf thread.

Mage is too strong. 2 mana 3 mana to play a 5-8 mana big spell is unplayable against.

I mean today I got double deck of lunacy and got nagrand slam 3 turns in a row for 7 cost + another cheap spell… was an easy braindead win

Is getting ridiculously lucky once a reason to nerf a card which saw zero play up until yesterday?

when I have played this in my spell deck I have yet to lose.

That’s cool. But until the deck becomes a lot more prominent and losing to discounted spells becomes the norm every game, I don’t think this is nerf worthy.

I’m sick of this deck personally. I had a miserable game where my opponent played Celestial Alignment, then 3 Nagrand Slams and a Survival of the Fittest. Good lucking winning that one.

Already told you.
If you don`t believe me on how consistent this deck is, watch a few streamers playing it in legend.
The amount of mirror matches says a lot…

Holy crap, you have complained about 4 classes and 5 cards in the past two days alone.

It’s truly disheartening to lose to a deck that is simply random and that cheats mana.

I’m looking at HSReplay and it looks like in the top 1,000 legend ‘no minion mage’ running Deck of Lunacy is tier 2 with the 3rd highest win rate at 53.87%. Random should not dominate the charts. This needs change.

I don’t have too much of a problem with randomness. If anything, the problem is that the deck isn’t random. There are so few spells at certain costs now, just after rotation, and most of them are insanely high quality. The fact that the deck can now just drop Deck of Lunacy and virtually guarantee extremely unfair outcomes is what’s making it so frustrating at the moment.

I mean I understand both sides of the argument. It’s REALLY hard to balance around either way. There’s the times you get a 5 mana Cenarion Ward or a 7 mana Pyro balanced with the times you get cards that deal with beasts or idol of Yshie boy in a minionless deck

Typically, you’re going to get good spells at least prior to rotation similar to Puzzle Box being strong in Standard more than it was in wild. It’s just hard to gauge how useful it all is in the long run though.

Vicious Syndicate noted as soon as it was in standard that Deck of Lunacy would become toxic the moment there was an effective deck that would run it. They estimated that it was stronger than Keleseth.

Is it by actually looking into what cards are in the meta or are they just jumping the gun? I mean one of the reasons I LOVED the card before was because I shat all over bombs constantly if they were ever used because it’s a free group of 8 drops and I had a few games vs them that I discovered it anyway while being in deck. To me it just seemed very memish but I have had some interestingly weird successful games with it.

Deck of Lunacy is less random because of the reduced spell pool from both rotation and core changes.

Like Flamestrike can only become Nagrand Slam or Survival of the Fittest.

It’s kind of the same problem with Jandice now. There’s less bad results which means more good even if it’s random.

Definitely one of the decks that needs to be destroyed. Deck of Lunacy was ok when it was a meme, but they’ve added way too much consistent draw to the deck and power to the spell pool for it to be fair at this point.

This game needs a fundamental change.
The word random should not include cards from all classes, classes exist in this game for a reason. If you can combine 10 different classes together, it’s a complete chaos.

Survival of the Fittest is arguable a bad roll in spell mage.
