Runes of Blood: Destroy an enemy minion. This minion and your hero gain its Health.
Runes of Frost: The next spell you cast costs (3) less and has Spell Damage +3.
Runes of the Unholy: Summon two 3/3 Undead with Taunt and Reborn.
Seems like a fair version of Aman’thul. Obligatory “fits into any DK deck.”
Runes of Blood is obvious control and emergency healing, but can’t kill your own stuff. Deletes Titans.
Runes of Frost is not “this turn,” so you can use this ability and save the effect for when you have more mana. Remember that Blood Boil doesn’t benefit from spell damage, but Howling Blast does…you immediately discover a Frost rune card, too.
Runes of the Unholy gives 4 corpses eventually. Seems like the default option if you have nothing else to do.
Not as bananas as something like Argus, Sargeras, or Amitus…but certainly strong. Two chances to discover Frost Queen Sindragosa.
Edit: never mind, you added the abilities in. This just goes in every DK deck. Period. Like all the other titans it’s basically autoinclude. Every DK deck runs this for the next 2 years. And since DK is 25-30% of the ladder you’ll be seeing this guy more than you care to.
I’d like to point out that the recent changes to Twitter make the TITANS preview a pain in the butt. Everything is getting previewed on Twitter which means there’s a delay between initial release and when this stuff is actually visible. Apparently, I’m not the only person who doesn’t use Twitter…
At least he doesn’t win games. And you can’t discover triple rune cards. He just seems like a lump of modest value, a slightly weaker Aman’thul. I bet that Primus is mostly used to remove other Titans.
Blood DK will definitly use it. I doubt frost or unholy have any interest in running an 8 mana card that isnt winning the game next turn.
All 3 abilities feel perfect for what blood DK wants to do.
The Unholy ability gives taunts and an unholy card
(Probably the worst of the three)
The blood ability destroys a minion and gives your hero more health, in a similar way to Vampiric Blood
(I can already imagine them using this on a 20/20 and the hero gaining 20 health)
And the frost ability is more likely than not going to be discover a frost spell, and cast it with Spell Damage +3
(Also important to realize that is is not THIS TURN, so it can carry over to next turn)
Why is this 8 mana for a relatively (to the other titans) weak effect.
This really falls back to the fact that, because it is supposed to appeal to all 3 runes, triple runes decks might feel conflicted about running it.
Triple Blood: You always pick “Runes of Blood” or “Runes of Unholy” as your first pick. “Runes of Blood” would be value worthy only if this kills another titan. And that implies that there aren’t other minions on board that can threaten to hit your face. Even if it seems that it’s good that this minion gets its health therefore it will probably use another ability, the other abilities conflict with 3 blood’s interest. “Runes of Unholy” will be an “okay i guess i will do that” while “Runes of frost” will be basically useless.
Triple Frost: Ironically the “Runes of frost” effect won’t even be triple frost’s first ability because the ability simply does nothing for frost. Oh wow, Frostwyrm’s fury now will deal 8 damage … on turn 9 btw ??? You don’t even play this one on triple frost because you want to burn your opponent before 9.
Triple Unholy: Probably the only deck that it will be played in because the reborn on 3/3’s is actually good for unholy because your opponent at this point of the game is probably on a low health point. It creates a sticky enough board that even if your opponent aoe board clears you still have 6 face damage.
Rainbow: Not gonna bother much, but considering they pushed the necrotic explosion card you would expect this titan to actually have a game ending ability. Rainbow still remains a joke. And considering this expansions focus were unholy and blood. Don’t expect much support for rainbow.
Discover knight will remain as the most boring class, because the devs are forced to only give dk good cards because of the 3 rune system.
And this is not only boring, but bad as well.
Now before you start talking about “this is an auto-include” on every death knight deck. That would only be because it has no rune restriction. It’s still bad in the grand aspect of things and boring.
I think Rainbow will really love this guy. He can discover double rune cards that you couldn’t put into your deck, and can help you survive until CNE. Finding ways to survive is one of Rainbow’s weaknesses.
He’s boring but good. I don’t think Primus is as “WOW” as other Titans, but he’s still quite strong. You’ll never feel bad about playing him. Sort of like Aggramar, who might end up being the best Titan.
Of course, but it would be no different as it always was, because old Alex was always used by combo/control decks for a good reason and if she would be still in standard then DK’s rune change wouldnt be needed anymore, because Alex alone fixed it.
I get the idea but doesnt linecracker only gain attack? I dont think there are any standard minions or even wild ones that really get insanely high health stats.
I hate these effects that raise max hp… it’s even worse than the huge amounts of armor of odd warrior, kobolds and catacombs druid and stuff as at least armor can’t be healed.
