Priest is still one of the strongest classes, but i also think, that playing a priest well (like above 60% WR or even above 50% WR) needs a lot more “skill” than playing any other tier 1 or 2 deck.
I play 90% as priest. Could never play a hunter or demonhunter - to be honest, i pretty much hate them^^ i understand, why they nerfed renew and apotheosis, but i cant unterstand how a card like the illidari inquisitor stays unchanged.
when facing a hunter or demonhunter - especially the ones, i would call them “never legend”, they are just throwing out cards on curve - its a no-brainer - but they could still be quite dangerous for a priest or other classes like a rogue or warlock, especially when u havent got the right cards in your hands at the right time. so as a priest u are pretty much struggeling the whole game and you have also to plan your plays and even your clears far in advance - while they keep just clearing their hands. Each turn - starting turn 6 (if coin and outcast skull of guldan is played turn 5) - u have to be ready for 1 of 2! illidari inquisitors - if u dont have the cards to remove it, game is pretty much over.
Priest games are pretty much outplaying and outsmarting your opponent. most of the time, they lose, because they run out steam - even these games are often very close. Priest loses most of the time, when your opponent is pretty lucky with card draw or the priest is pretty unlucky
for hunters or shamans its the same. many games these classes have 8 or even more dmg on board right on turn 3. priest clears start at 4 with a very lucky hysteria or deperate prayer + xyrella. but usually u are pretty far behind at this point and u dont want to make these plays that early, but u have to, because opponent is - as mentioned above - just clearing his hands on curve.
I understand why people play those fast pacing decks, but i dont get, why the nerfs most of the time are in their favor.
I mean. Like Apotheosis. They nerf it because its too strong in combination with Blademaster Samuro. Most of the time, this combo starts at turn 6!. 3 Damage to all Minions and 6 to the maintarget is okay and it is needed! And the problem is not, that the card is too strong. Its the opponents mostly being too greedy and overextending the board. In what other way should u counter for example a Druids Arbor Up or those 3 HP Deathrattlers that summon Deathrattlers from hand? Power Word: Fortitude? Come on! Arbor Up summons minions with 3 Hp and buffs others too. - Okay Samuro lets go, 2 Damage are enough - LOL. Make it a 5 or 6 cost card and dont nerf the wrong card. U play that combo mainly for boardclear or partial clear, and not for healing.
For the Illidari Inquisitor i would appreciate a nerf. make this card legendary and maybe 10/10 or make it a 6/6 rar card.
Playing skill based decks should not be punished!
For info: this season i only played priest, right at the beginning. i am not a netdecker and i am still playing for fun and the challenge. i can reach and reached legend, but time is not in my favor, especially with a priest deck, where games usually take longer
