Core and Yearly Set Rotation

Ask the Chinese players all about that “My Card” idea. You don’t actually own anything. Even the card packs you paid money for and use belong to Blizzard, read your TOS. Just craft the ones you are missing and move on or stop playing. It’s real simple.

Huh?

Rotation has been around for years. I don’t know when OP came back to the game (most unfortunate if they dropped back into it close to a rotation), but the complaint of losing the cards from Standard is a bit much.

Again, it sucks, especially if they spent money/dust/gold on them, but rotation occurs and Core was made to keep the meta fresh throughout the years

seems to me it could be far better executed than it is.

Executed as to how Core is released/transitioned or what’s available in the pool?

The way that core is handled in the interface is confusing.
I dusted a bunch of cards, replacing what I already had in another version,
due to the strange way they present the cards.
The system seems either poorly designed, or purposely confusing to take your dust.

The transition could be better. I’m not a coder or anything, but it’d be simpler if the game was setup to replace Core cards with their original versions when the rotation occurs.

Feels like it could be better

Lol ummm, no. No, sir.

I started shortly before Un’Goro, so I ended up with a bit of Gadgetzan and Old Gods before Un’Goro. Then I actively played for like two years, before rotations really started negatively affecting my ability to play, especially the Core set rotation. I returned to get Demon Hunter, but wasn’t really interested in what was going on otherwise. I returned again for several months in order to get Death Knight, then this rotation ruined all of my hard work. I mainly play Wild now, because Standard is too much of an investment for F2P. Taking away cards that were freely given as part of the introduction of a new class just isn’t fun.

When Death Knight was introduced, the prologue was just the way to unlock the Core cards of the class. They were clearly announced as Core and shown as Core in the collection manager. They didn’t take any cards away that they didn’t replace with something else, so you still have as many cards of the same rarities, and it is not as though you are out any kind of money or dust for them

Good thing you didnt actually pay for those cards then.

It would be better if they did not remove cards that rotate out. This causes confusion every year.

It does, but a lot of things in Hearthstone cause confusion. Shudderblock, for example, clearly states on the card what it does, but some people still come to the forums asking why their tripled battlecry didn’t damage the enemy hero.

The workings of the Core set were clearly announced when it was released, and the info is out there on the internet for anyone to look up at any time. Every year, Blizzard puts out a detailed announcement regarding Core set changes. Maybe there could be some way to more clearly communicate what is happening in-game, but I honestly doubt it would help much. People do not read
