Contraband Stash

Contraband Stash

-Replay 5 cards from other classes you’ve played this game

*** “replay” would indicate that it is actually PLAYED (as in played again) and not summoned or copied which do not trigger battlecry’s and hence the battlecry’s would function and trigger.

Used the above card while only two cards from other classes were previously played

Card 1: Crud Caretaker: Battlecry : Summon a 3/5 Elemental with Taunt

Card 2: Crud Caretaker: Battlecry : Summon a 3/5 Elemental with Taunt

The replayed cards FAILED (as is common with Bliz Dev Coding) to summon the “Summon a 3/5 Elemental with Taunt” each.

Cost me the match. Time to reevaluate the salaries you pay and what you get for them additionally.

The big question that needs to be answered or evaluated: Do battlecry’s trigger when a card is played? Whether it’s the first time it is played, or the second time it is played (either through returning it to your hand and replaying it, or through the above card, replaying it).

It seems like it’s just bad grammar and English composition if it is functioning as intended, if not, then it’s broken.

Battlecries don’t work unless played by your hand. Getting summoned by say dirty rat or resurrected by the many priest cards will not trigger the battlecry. That’s intended.

A battlecry will always work if played by hand, if say shadow stepped it will trigger again even though the card was played once before. The tradeoff is that it cannot trigger from a summons.

In contrast deathrattle does not trigger when first played unless spirit singer umbra is already on your board. If silenced before dying the effect is not triggered so there’s no guarantee the first play will have the effect, but if resurrected then killed the deathrattle triggers whether or not the original cards deathrattle occured.

It looks like you just can’t read. Just learn to read the rules of the game and everything will become clear

The answer is in the tooltip that appears when you hover your mouse over any card that has the bolded word Battlecry on it:
Battlecry: Does something when you play it from your hand

When you play Contraband Stash, then the replayed Crud Caretakers are (1) not played by you but by the spell; and (2) most definitely not played from your hand. Hence the Battlecries are not supposed to trigger. This is working as intended.

The others have explained it quite well already. You also see this interaction with I forget his name, that legendary priest dragon that replays cards your opponent plays. I will somewhat agree that it’s a little inconsistent. But then again, how would you word it? I think once you see how it works once, you know how it works forever, and that’s fine imo.

If YOU play the card FROM YOUR HAND, yes.

That obviously did not happen in this case.

The cards were played, but not BY YOU and certainly not FROM YOUR HAND.

So, no battlecry.

No bug either.

That’s a load of [fill in the blank].

You know those mage/priest/sham spells/minions that replay things like ‘all spells’ or similar, that inturn summon a minion, that has battlecry, and it triggers…

most specifically, replay x card, which happens to be a taunt minion, that has a battle cry of deal x damage to self. Why does it’s battle cry trigger if it wasn’t played from hand?

That’s wrong. It may be that they intend it that way, but many battlecries do trigger.

I have been playing Hearthstone for many years now, and I have literally never seen a Battlecry go off when a minion was summoned by any means other than playing from hand.

If you have seen that happen, then that was most clearly a bug. Please post a link to a replay of the game, or to a video recording, (or if you have neither then at least to a screenshot). That will allow Blizzard to investigate the exact situations where this happened, so they can investigate the exact circumstances that caused this rare bug.

you look funny  stop lying

It didn’t. You are mistaken. End of story.

If only you both were right. New story, go test it and vid cap the results.

You’re the one reporting the bug. You’re the one who’s experiencing something that’s not supposed to happen. You’re the one who has to provide the proof that it is happening.

Sure thing.

Where are the native logs for each game that Blizzard has built into HS so I can retrieve them and provide the requested information.

Ohhh Yeah, they don’t have that still.

I’m sure they’ll ask for whatever information they need from my system that will help validate my experience. They are after all University trained Game Developers and know what to ask for and where to find it.

You just asked for a vid cap, and now it’s too complicated to provide one yourself? Wow…

What would be the point? Such evidence would not convince you, I feel certain.

Smells like a co-out to me. Easy enough to splatter your rebuttal around for vanity points, but when it come to actually doing the ** work** involved to support it… it’s as flaccid as… well you know.

Exactly, that’s what you’re doing. We have never, ever, seen a minion trigger its battlecry when not played from hand. There are countless video’s on Youtube where battlecry minions are being summoned without triggering its battlecry. Yet you say they do, but doing the work to support that claim, that’s too much. It’s as flaccid as a wet noodle.

Only 2 cards in the history of hearthsrone use the word “replay” and that is Contraband Stash, and Tess. Neither of which trigger battlecries when played, so what cards are you referring to in those classes?

I know it it’s an old post, but in the interest of helping you improve yourself, I’d suggest taking some reading comprehension classes, and then re-read the first post. You’ll find your answer in there.

It’s kind of like those tests every few years in school about the baby bird and it uses a tooth on the end of it’s beak called a pip to break out of the shell… you remember right? That was a short paragraph and subsequent question that evaluated your reading comprehension. Sad part was that same question/paragraph appeared on every test, but hey 35+ years later maybe it will help someone else now.
