It’s a very strong card, this slight nerf will not make it unplayable. Being able to break opponents buffs and taunts makes it too versatile.
Honestly if my opponent wants to waste a conjurers calling on one of my minions and not his mountain giant I will count that as a win.
This is not a nerf but buff. Vargoth will be in every Conjurer deck.
Conjurer’s calling doubles the mana value of the target, so it’s really not a straightforward removal option. Why would you want to remove the option that actually brings considerable depth to the game?
P.S. Or do you want it as a buff to Heist bosses, who very consistently use conjurer’s calling to gimp themselves (always uses on my minions and almost always that results in doubling my value)? XD
Yep, being able to get through a taunt for lethal or deal with an early Edwin or buffed up mech is pretty insignificant and is just more evidence that CC is appropriately costed.
Cylon detected!!!
someone likes big mechs…
If your minion was a single Taunt and got CC’d into 2 Non-Taunts letting said Mountain Giant score the lethal hit, you cannot count that as a win…
Well… Ironbeak Owl does the same, has no random effect (cannot make two Zilliaxes from one) and it costs 3. Yes, CC is appropriately costed.
I don’t think it needs a nerf but if it did… 4 mana is reasonable
Imagine relying on taunts to not die. You could always use you own cards to pressure their life total instead of sitting around doing nothing but putting up taunt minions.
I was just giving you a hard time.
Obviously not going to be a common scenario, but I have used CC to remove the Taunt that was standing between me and lethal.
This makes Calling viable with Vargoth.
You don’t want that. Trust me.
I have used it in a pinch when i know the chances of getting a taunt from the conj is low but realistically it’s not used in that instance often. The most likely outcome for playing it that way is a bad result that weakens your board position.
It would make Vargoth’s flavor text pointless hahah
Not really. Not if you have a big Edwin. Or (s)he already has 2 Giants and you have a big mech taunt. It removes any buffs. I guess I would me more fair if it returned a minion with total mana cost, so if you built a mech out of a 2, 1 and 3 mana cost mechs, you’d get 2 6 mana minions from CC.
I mean you gotta keep in mind polymorph is still a thing. If you have a 12/12 vancleef on 3 polymorph turns it into a 1/1 for 4 mana. For 3 mana a mage can turn it into 2 minions that cost 3. And thats the drawback with magnetic. You can make it a huge minions but single card removal counters it.
Yep, a three mana understatted silence minion is really comparable to a spell that can be played twice and doubles your giants in addition to being able remove your opponents threats or taunts.
The point is, the mage doesn’t have to run or mulligan for removal to deal with an early Edwin. That’s covered by CC.
Don’t get me wrong. I like cards that are versatile. They just should be appropriately costed.
CC is always starting in hand and don’t have to be mulliganed? Wow!
Do people just ignore facts?
Mech Hunter walks all over Mage and rogue does just fine. Mage is allowed to kill your big minions. It’s a weak play anyway, you get 2 tokens out of it and they lose tempo and one of their best cards.
The thread is obviously just salt over a single game where a 20/20 pogo or an Edwin/Shark play got popped and the OP had felt entitled to the auto-win.
