Now I remember why Arcane Golem was beat to death with the meanest posse of nerf bats and thrown into the dumpster.
That card is the single biggest enabler of toxic aggro in the entire format.

If you think it’s too aggro, wait before they release Naaxramas.
You’ll see aggro true power
For anyone that didn’t remember how classic was, don’t worry, 4 mana leeroy is here to remind you.
Welcome back zoolock & miracle rogue.
The rose tinted goggles are becoming clearer, aren’t they?
I feel like people telling “reeeee game is so unbalanced right now it was way better at game release” have to play classic.
well… most of us who have played classic actually called that.
but it’s not only aggro that’s stronger in classic. Wait until people start playing freeze maze, the epitome of “interactive” deck ^^ or Wallet warrior as well.
Basically, in the era that balance patches were like a mythical creature that you just heard rumors of, when something DID get nerfed, it well damn had a very important “why” it got nerfed.
I’m always surprised with how many people ask for classic hearthstone. Like, the game was super unbalanced and much worse than current.
players have forgotten that there were very little removal to come back on board against many decks
I played 5 games so far and every single one was against the same lock deck. I think it’s hand lock.
I suspect it’s the lack of builds available and people wanting to only use the top build.
I find freeze mage (I built mine, didn’t look it up) to be very effective. You can stall the board and possibly wipe it out, two ice blocks and enough spell damage to win.
the format was solved 7 years ago (shocker i know!)
handlock was one of the stronger decks back then
I’ve never played at release as I started at Rakastans Rumble.
1st deck I tried when Classic format was Freeze Mage - Love it but damn is it annoying for opponents!!
Even though I enjoyed the game at release. I knew that classic mode would be awful. The game has changed for the better. Even though there is heavy rng, that’s what makes the game fun.
Arcane Golem? Eh. Niche outside of a few decks, at better MMR. It’s probably actually 2/1 Leper Gnome, as well as to an extent Knife Juggler. Leper is an incredible card for the cost. For face decks, a near-guaranteed 2 damage for 1 mana is worth it. Knife Juggler will straight up lose you the game, ASAP.
Leeroy is way better than the golem.
What exactly is the purpose of this thread?
It’s not that great of a card unless it’s used as a finisher. In the early to mid game, it gives a mana crystal to the opponent, which is a huge boon.
Actually, Classic is much better than I ever dreamed.
I worked hard to collect those expensive legendaries over the years. Gradually, Hearthstone changed so much that they became useless for the most part (Cairne, Sylvanas and Tirion were great in the original N’Zoth era; Ragnaros was basically good until he was put into Hall of Fame.)
Now I get to play them. I get to be the Wallet Warrior. It’s a huge thrill!
Freeze mage should be heavily favored vs. Handlock afaik.
I actually quite enjoy the format
imo the format itself isnt the problem.
sure, there are fewer cards so fewer possaible decks.
and sure, the meta is solved ages ago.
but for lot of people it’ll be either their first time playing said meta, or so long agao that it’s practically “new” again.
imo the problem with “classic hearthstone” is that i simply cannot see it as a sustainable “game mode”.
people get bored of wider metas within a few weeks (tops a month or two). So you can’t have a mode that’s basically a static meta forever.
even those that trully enjoy it atm, they will be soon get bored simply due to the repetion.
it would have been much better served as a short time event, like 2 weeks or a month even, but a full mode? pointless imo.
at least that’s my opinion.
First of all.
An archtype isn’t good or bad.
Just tell “toxic aggro” shows how biased you probably is.
After that…
Classic hearthstone is probably more fun to me.
Why?
It cares more about you than about your opponent.
It creates a environment that is more rewarding to play on and you understand why you win or lose your matches.
I wish that in the long run the game start to:
Losing is frustrating anyway and the only thing those people are doing by being heard is making the other side as miserable as they by making people unable to play what gives fun to they.
We’re better without it.
Why do I feel like if it was up to people like you aggro wouldn’t exist and everyone would just play control for 30 minute long games and the worst feeling losses ever?
funilly enough, without aggro it wouldnt be control vs control.
it would just be combo decks. whoever has the faster combo wins.
