Cards need to be created again after a long time without playing

Hi! I have returned to Hearthstone after two years and I’m missing a lot of cards in my collection; common, rare even legendaries. Cards that I used in several decks and basic cards as the “Mana Wyrm”, cards that I never would disenchant. I have checked all the filters, categories (wild, classic, etc…) The hall of fame, etc… and they just disappear and now I would have to create them again.

This is a bit disappointing :frowning: I missing a lot of cards and this cost a huge amount of dust to replace…

I think that this could happens due to a sync error with Drive when I first installed the game in an Android smartphone. I tried as well to install it in the PC but I have the same issue, I looked for errors (using the tool in the launcher) and everything looks fine.

Do you know how can I get my cards back without spending crazy amount of dust again?

Note: This happens before the patch 20.0 The Barrens

Thanks!!

Basic and Classic cards (now called Legacy) have rotated out. You can find these cards using the Legacy filter in your Collection. You can still use these cards in Wild format decks.

Legacy cards have been replaced with the Core set, a free set of cards that change each year.

Also note; Classic Decks use Legacy cards. For example, if you disenchant the Legacy version of Leeroy (5 mana 6/2), you’ll lose access to the Classic version of Leeroy (4 mana 6/2).

Thanks for the reply! I knew that, but that is not my case. My problem is that those cards need to be created again when I already had them. I can see them in the creation panel using the correct filters, but I had them two years back! :frowning:

My girlfriend started playing again at the same time (same we stop playing two years back) and she doesn’t have this issue, for example she still having the “Mana Wyrm” which increases my suspicious of a bug with the synchronization of my collection files, maybe related with the decks that I had created at that moment.

I have the same problem. I’m an old player and I’ve restart play last week.

I notice that a bunch of my old cards (like Leeroy Jenkins, Ancient of Lore or Northshire Cleric) are missing. I noticed this while making some decks for the classic mode and I remember owning and using some of this cards.

That might have been the indented result, but i have seen a lot of other people have similar problems with cards being missing after coming back after a few years, myself included.

At first, Mana Wurm is not a basic card.
At second, exactly this card you would disenchant for sure because it was nerfed.

Thank you for the useless post. I lost Leeroy Jenkins, Ancient of Lore or Northshire Cleric for example: can you also explain that?
You’re completely missing the point

You disenchanted them. Feasible, since those three cards were nerfed or HoF’d.
Cards don’t get “lost” in Hearthstone. You either never had them or you disenchanted them.

I haven’t played since about January 2016, it’s just not possible. All the missing cards are classic cards right now, so maybe some problems for old accounts is possible. I just want a check from the developer, nothing else.

This is a real problem and if you are here only for flaming without proposing any solution, please go away.

If you want someone to check your account, you’ll need to contact Blizzard Support. No-one here can help you with account issues.

You can contact Support using the link in the upper-right on any page on this forum.

Ok thanks.

I contacted support yesterday and they told me to write here:

Unfortunately, we are unable to process reports of this nature via our Customer Support service. However, you can share your input by posting on the US Hearthstone forums

Am I doing something wrong?

And a few more, but those are the ones that I’m pretty sure I had.

Nope. You’ve done all you can. You probably won’t get those cards back, unless you craft them or find them in Classic Packs bought from the Shop.

Have you checked your Collection while setting the Filter to Wild?

Yes I did.

That cannot be the only solution. In my case is a crazy amount of dust and time spent on those cards…

Only Blizzard has access to your account. You (and Fonto) could try to contact Support again and request your ticket be escalated, but beyond that, there’s nothing anyone in Bug Report can do.

Support tends to ‘pass the buck’ by telling players to report their issue in Bug Report.

Again; cards do not just go missing or get removed from your collection unless intentionally disenchanted. That was the whole design of the Wild Format and the old Hall of Fame feature; cards that didn’t fit in Standard but couldn’t be rotated out (old Basic/Classic cards), or needed to be rotated out quicker (Genn, Baku) were moved to the Hall of Fame.

With the introduction of the Legacy set and the Core set, the Hall of Fame was abolished, as it was no longer needed, but the cards are still available.

In the entirety of Hearthstone history, there was only ever a single time were players’ collections were wiped. This was 2nd October 2013, during the Closed Beta. However, any real money spent in Hearthstone was refunded in gold.

I have noticed that many of the cards that are missing from my collection have actually been moved to AoF at some point.

I have completely missed the all of fame phase (I left before the introduction and re-started after patch 20) and I think my problem may be due to this.

I agree with you that it is very strange that some cards have disappeared, but being an extremely rare case, I would have liked to have received a response from blizzard.

I’m sure I haven’t disenchanted those cards, especially the common ones, because I was using them at the time and I never went in again.

By the way, if I can’t do anything else, I will try to insist with support center.

hi, I just came back to playing again myself and am missing a ton of cards myself. cards I know I would never disenchant and I know for a fact weren’t because I never disenchanted before I looked. I usually play mage and have a ton of cards missing in all of my decks. I had missing in every single one of them and it said they needed to be crafted again and like you it has nothing to do with the filter. they are just gone and need to be crafted again. I have no clue why they would be gone and doing a search didn’t come up with anything but finding other people who have had this happen as well. I still haven’t seen any fixes. if you end up getting your’s fixed or know what happened, let me know.

How long have you been away? If three years or less, then I’m going to guess this is a Core Set issue.

Blizzard added the Core Set feature in March 2021. It is a set of around 200 cards that Blizzard loans to everyone for free to use in their decks for the year. Most of these cards are “reprints” of cards from older expansions.

Each year in March/April Blizzard changes the set, adding some new cards and removing others. So if you previously had a deck that contained Core cards, those cards might now be gone.

I’m guessing this is what happened to you. You built decks that contained Core cards, and now those cards are no longer in the Core set, and so are missing from your collection and decks.

Core cards count as separate versions, and the deckbuilding interface prefers to show you the Core version of a card, even if you own the original expansion version of that card.

Can you show a partial list of the missing cards, so that we can compare them to cards that were previously in the Core Set but have since been rotated out?
