Returning player after not playing for a couple of years. I noticed that many of my cards in expansions from the grand tournament and older disappeared. It seems to only affect the common/rare/epic cards. I am certain I did not disenchant them since I had a couple of wild decks that still used some of these cards, but these decks all turned to incomplete decks and I needed to add more cards to use them. I had purchased packs to obtain these cards when the expansion first came out so I owned the cards prior to the introduction of the core set.
Check your collection. That’s the best way to check if you’re missing cards. Do NOT assume you’re missing cards just because decks are missing cards. When a card rotates out of the Core Set, they’re not replaced by the original version when they’ve been used in decks.
Yes I have checked my collection and found that they’re missing. As I’ve said these cards were owned prior to the introduction of the core set, so they should be in my collection.
Double-check that you’re logged into the correct account/region.
Aside from that, if you’re positive that you owned them before, and you’re positive that you did not disenchant them, there’s nothing more this forum can really do.
You’ll have to open a customer service ticket.
Yeah I’m in the right region/account. I opened a customer service ticket and they just said to post on here to report a bug…
They always do that. It’s just a way to close the support ticket. There’s literally nothing the forum can do about individual accounts missing cards. You need to ask for some kind of support explanation about why your cards are missing.
I have two theories about why this happens. The first, user error, people are disenchanting non-core cards when it appears that there is a duplicate because of core. The second, some kind of actual bug where the mass disenchant button will disenchant non-core cards when there is a duplicate of the card in core. I suspect the first is usually the case, but there are enough of these reports that I’ve considered something like the second a few times.
When you opened the ticket, how did you characterize the issue?
Did you report it as a bug, or as missing/lost items?
If you reported it as a bug, then the support team might narrowly interpret that to mean “the program behaved incorrectly, and I want it to be fixed so it does not happen any more.”
A reasonable human being would realize that, in addition to fixing the bug so it does not happen again in the future, you ALSO want your lost cards to be restored. But sadly, it seems that the support team consistently overlooks this part of the problem.
I have had the same issue. I’ve had back in forth with Blizzard support for nearly 6 months, and they refuse to budge. The latest update made even more disappear. I spent hours estimating my loss in cards (many from adventures/paid expansions), and having poor recollection of which cards were gold/normal, was able to get a range of between 17.5-23k dust. That’s 175-230 packs, which is several hundred dollars worth of packs.
Of all the poor responses, the least ridiculous was “we just don’t track this so can’t do anything about it”, basically making a wholly Blizzard problem, solely my problem.
I’m in the U.K., so sadly probably won’t help, but I’ve ended up starting the process to take them to small claims court, as this breaks a lot of domestic commercial laws and needs to be hit hard. I spent a lot of time and money getting my collection to where it was, and am absolutely not putting up with this unbelievably cavalier attitude towards loyal, paying customers.
If anyone reads this and is based in U.K. (or even EU), please reply to this and let’s see if we can group up and get this problem taken seriously, or at least get some form of in game compensation for this. This really has left a sour taste - Blizzard was once phenomenal, and this is making me want to give up the last video game I still actively play. Not because I don’t like the game (hearthstone is <3), I just hate the predatory and scummy company behind it.
Can you give some examples?
Sure. I have zero copies of Avenge. A month ago I had two copies. I’ve not disenchanted a single card since the launch of titans, last time I used the mass disenchant button was around 2019.
How did you discover this?
Do you have a deck with Avenge in it, and the deck now has less than 30 cards?
Or did you specifically look for it in your collection? If so, how exactly did you search for it? What filter did you use?
I’m using avenge because it’s the top of my “new missing cards” tracker AND was in a secret paladin deck I played just before Titans release in wild.
I checked by “missing” initially, set by set, as I was trying to do the dust calculation for missing cards from classic/legacy onwards due to my initial complaint. While doing this, saw that I suddenly had gaps in paid adventure cards that were complete around 4-5 weeks ago. I then specifically searched for “Avenge”, using wild/Naxx/Legacy filters and no copies show up whatsoever.
P.S. for anyone UK based, this is the legal address to use for the small claims court for this type of issue:
Activision Blizzard UK Ltd
The Ampersand Building
178 Wardour Street
LONDON W1F 8FY
No legal fees required if you go through the Citizens Advice Bureau, which is what I’ve ended up doing. Just make sure to collect solid evidence first.
Avenge was once a Core card. Core cards are uncraftable and rotate from time to time. It is very likely that you still have another version if you filter for the Curse of Naxxramas set. If not, it is likely you disenchanted the Naxx version because you thought you had a duplicate.
Does that same deck now show up as having fewer than 30 cards?
Nope, as mentioned, I’ve searched with every filter, and discovered it was missing using expac by expac to build my spreadsheet for my claim. Your explanation would make sense, but then I would be missing all of the cards that were part of the set and rotated in core. The missing cards don’t match that criteria.
As explained, I’ve not disenchanted any cards. I have thousands of dust in duplicate cards, waiting to be disenchanted, and that’s been the case for a very long time. I’m an (organised and OCD) hoarder, which is what makes this bug even more annoying. If I had received dust for this, great (I could craft them again at no cost), but I didn’t.
Apologies, didn’t see your response. I deleted the deck when twist came out as I needed the deck slots. If it helps, if I now try to build the same deck, I’m missing that secret. I think 5 cards from Naxx were in standard (maybe 6?), but I’m missing 3 of those. Avenge, Death’s Bite and Webspinner. The others are still in my collection.
Edit: my original assumption is that it was a data migration issue for my first huge batch of cards that went missing, where classic legendaries like my golden King Krush and Captain Greenskin straight up vanished (ie I was out of the game for a while, I didn’t log in when some patch came out fixing a random bug, the cards disappeared, and I didn’t get any dust for them, returned to the game much later and missed both dust refunds and cards moving to a different category).
This second one feels like a different bug altogether (and frankly affected WAY less cards, I’m talking about maybe a dozen cards altogether). The first bug I noticed back in January this year affected multiple
Legendaries in my legacy collection and elsewhere, weird cards like Northshire cleric, Edwin van Cleef, shield slam, friggin Nat Pagle (!), target dummy from GVG, Doc 7 (also golden, crafted). I probably won’t play most of these cards, but I’d still really like them back or at least some form of explanation as to why this happened.
I just returned to the game and don’t have most of my old cards i have checked everything and they are missing!!
First, make sure you are logged in to the correct account/region.
Then, give us some actual examples of cards that are missing, and tell us exactly where in your collection you looked for them (what filter you used).
I haven’t played Hearthstone for over three years. After logging into the game, I discovered that over 50 legendary cards were missing from my collection. These cards are from the earliest paid adventures - Galakrond’s Awakening, One Night in Karazhan, League of Explorers, Blackrock Mountain, Curse of Naxxramas, Goblins vs Gnomes. I didn’t disenchant them. I contacted support in the European region, but they couldn’t help me. They mentioned that I either deleted them myself or they got deleted. Real money was spent on these expansions and cards.
i Still have missing cards after the year of the Pegaso. Before i Had for exemple the Both standard and Golden Version of this card… Now Only the standard one. The problem is correlated to several cards in my collection. After more than 10 years of game the only answar i had was that you suppose i disenchanted one by a Ticket ??? Never Happen
Could please someoneresolve my problem ? It’s impossible after years of payment in WoW and now in Hs nobody can resolve this ??? And all Ticket are closed instantly with superficiality. Check my account and resolve it !!!
