There is a pile of cards I would simply obliterate, given the chance.
Mind you; I don’t mean HOF, or moved to Wild, I mean gone permanently, and full dust refunds issued for them, along with my sincere apologies for printing cards that do way too much.
Starting with Velarok, because I despise Rogues that get to repeatedly abuse the stupid thing.
All Titans. All Colossals. Zephrys. Zilliax, both versions. Theotar. Heroes, Parrots. Both Reno cards, and Renethal, as well as all dual class cards.
I’m sure there are more I would vaporize, but what about you?
If you could remove cards, what would they be?
I would just make one rule that if a card, at any point, costs 0 mana, then it disappears, just like if it were a minion with zero health.
I actually forgot a few. Lorthemar and Quests come to mind.
This is one I can get behind. It could be a 7 mana 1/1 it would still see play…which means the effect it has is broken and degenrate
Also probably Astalor, I don’t even have Astalor but since they made the scarab that discovers a 2 drop you can get it and it’s ridiculous especially when you can bounce it or copy it or etc, it’s just such a lame one card win condition so it’s like why?

Astalor seems ok to me. It’s slow, and your opponent has time to prepare for the effect. Cards that double it, however…

Nuking the cards from existence seems like an extreme answer. Some of these cards could have been created a little bit better and probably a little more creative.
Personally, I think titans could have been handled a little bit better. I would like to have seen them become legendary locations. Make them a uniform cost. Give them all four durability. Then attach multiple effects to using the durability onto them. But also when they’re in play your hero power is changed to something else.
Now you have cards that can transform how you build And play your deck. The balance comes from. If you use all the durability, you lose the hero power, but if you don’t use the durability, you keep the hero power.
To me, this just seems like a more interesting approach to putting planeswalkers into hearthstone. Cards just need to be more interesting instead of flat out cheaper to play and more powerful.
I have waited a very long time for this.
We have seen signs, but ultimately I think design always goes for the cheapest, and most direct way of generating income.
I don’t hate team 5 either. I don’t think they are very good at their jobs, but some of that might be due to pressure from above. ie: Not allowed to do what would be required to fix the game. Sales and low overhead matter most to the corporate suits.
Still: I would get rid of a pile of cards, were I allowed to.
Theotar is one of the few neutral cards that prevents OTKs in Wild. The rest are whatever but I can’t agree with making OTKs stronger.
And I would remove Guff.
I wish there was some kind of community-based banning system for standard, would be actual player agency.
You could make it weekly and only those ranked gold5 or something and above get a vote to promote engagment.
Get to vote for ranked top3 or 5 you want banned for the week, most votes at end wins. Could even track the voting in real time to inspire people to campaign for/against on forums.
would give devs a clear indication on player sentiment concerning power outliers or ‘feels bad’ cards.
maybe you make it so a card cannot be banned 2 weeks in a row so people who own the card don’t feel completely shut out from their style of play.
obviously there would still be very upset players the week their card is banned (which is why it would never happen) but think this would miss the greater purpose of identifying what the greater community deems poor player experience.
how many people just auto-include certain neutrals because they are just too good (leeroy/zill/yogg) to omit?
weekly bans might open up the collections more to slot in new cards and strats because you don’t have to worry about those being in opponent’s hand anymore.
They should just delete all the cards,and just make it so why you log in,its just a victory screen and thats it
Mana cheating is never going away. All standard miracle combos are by design.
