Are ranks no longer displayed in match since the ladder update?
I thought that maybe it’s going to get displayed in “higher” half of ladder, but already almost at diamond and still can’t see ranks.
Anyone knows what’s the reason for this?

Do you need to see your opponents rank?
Other than excusing your potential loss?
because the matchmaking is based on mmr and not rank
This is relevant to my question how?
I cannot see it either. It bothers me though cuz it’s not normal.
You can see your opponent’s rank once you reach Legend.
Two possible reasons:
It’s bugged.
Blizzard wanted to avoid the flood of complaints from people unable to understand the difference between rank and MMR that would come when players at, say, Bronze, see themselves matched against players at Gold, Plat, or Diamond.
I believe the concern about the inability to differentiate rank and MMR is correct. Under the new system, if you have a star bonus (which intentionally accelerates ladder progression), Hearthstone believes you are not yet placed where you can find fair competition based on rank, and so to provide a fair match, it uses MMR instead. This means that you could potentially match against someone of Bronze rank whilst being Platinum yourself (albeit of fair but hidden MMR) if both players have a star bonus. Naturally, some players would be off-put by this.
If Hearthstone did not match by MMR while under the effect of a star bonus, players would more likely have unfair matches at the beginning of the season since everyone now starts at Bronze 10.
What is your problem, dude?
Any update on this matter? It IS annoying and now that I’m legend I totally see how seeing your opponents is way better :
1 - It adds information : system is based on MMR so it’s cool to see where is your MMR at. When I was in the rank 3-1 I would have loved to see how many rank 1 and legend (not to low, ofc) dudes I was playing just to see how far I was for legend level.
2 - It also add a personality to my opponent. His name alone is irrelevant, his name plus his rank gives him more consistency, is he good? is he tryharding? is he just chilling? Let me give you a clear example : if I see at rank 1 someone playing a very exotic deck, I will think the guy is interesting, good at the game and probably send him a message after the game. If I see a silver dude playing a 15000 dust tier 1 deck, I will probably think is whether just starting his season or a complete idiot. Facing an opponent with a personality is way better than just facing an empty shell with a name.
3 - it does add something else to the game : a flavor. You don’t play the same against a chicken or a top legend, you are thrilled when you know you are facing a worthy opponent. For instance, if I play against a rank 1, I ll know the guy is probably tryharding like crazy, if I play against 7500 legend I’ll know the guy is just chilling playing meme decks. .
3 - Last : feeling of achievement. I’m sorry but if I beat a lower ranked dude, even if he played perfectly, I will not be impressed and probably forget about the game in a matter of minutes. But if I play some high legend or some rank 1-2 at the start of the month, I will be proud if I win.
Information, opponent’s personality, flavor and feeling of achievement are important in every game, hearthstone included, please bring the rank of the opponent back.
I agree, it’s anoying. I play just for fun, but i would like to see where I’m. Normaly I have a very high winrate, but I rarely try to get high ranks and after I get some basic rewards I just play decks for fun.
I have the same problem,i can’t see the opponent rank and i believe there is a reason for that. You play against bots in both normal and ranked modes and they have no rank which is bad because they can have whatever cards they want whenever they want just to beat you. This game simply stinks.
They obviously did because the whole the game is rigged thread was dying down. Now not seeing your opponents rank can fuel whole new conspiratorial threads for their amusement.
When in reality it has far more to do with the new MMR system then in loading Hearthstone with Bots (because faking ranks on bots would be too hard). Or because your being pitting against way higher ranked players. (Cue Hearthstone is dying thread)
… according to the Blizzard rep I discussed this with.
But if it’s bugged then why are there plenty of Twitch streamers playing where it does show the opponents rank?
