Cannot spectate or challenge friends

I have tried reinstalling and making sure we’re on the same version&region. I reset my password and contacted support, they did some kind of ‘account refresh’. Still the problem persists, every button is greyed out and it does not matter if friends are in main menu, or in-game. Also tried to remove friend and re-add but that did not help either.

I’m running out of ideas on what to try and it seems support is no good either. I’m on pc and so are my friends who I tried this with. Europe region and version 21.0.0.88998, client says it’s up to date.

Simple question but are either you or your friend set to “Appear offline”? That prevents spectating/challenges

Thanks but yes we have tried that aswell, neither of us was in that mode and we tried setting it on and off. We’ve tried so many things I can’t remember to list everything :smiley:

I have the same problem.
I received the watch a friend win in spectator mode quest, but all the buttons next to my online friends names are grayed out. I´m unable to challenge them or spectate them.
I´m playing on European server.

Restarting my computer and disabling my antivirus (Bitdefender free) seemed to have solved the problem. I dont know if the disabling antivirus was needed (after I turned it back on everthing still works).

After playing around one hour the problem comes back.

This has been happening to me as well. The only thing that fixes it is repeatedly restarting Hearthstone until eventually it works. It also takes almost a minute until all friends in the friendslist have loaded in (friends #/# counts up slowly and once it is done it does not display friends playing Hearthstone, I have to close the friendslist and then reopen it to display them, at which point the ability to interact with them is greyed out)

Logged in after weeks of inactivity hoping the update fixed something but no. Many of my friends are playing but I can’t spectate anyone. The friends list shows that I can’t challenge anyone, which makes sense as they are in-game but shouldn’t I be able to spectate their games, still?
