I’m tired of queing up duels/constructed with an interesting “outside the meta” deck that would be really fun or interesting to play, only to get rolled by aggressive bs, like honestly i feel like, at least in duels, the “competitive” side has a better player community!
What are you expecting to find in casual mode ? Isn’t the point of it to just be constructed without ranking ?
Arbitrarily restricting the meta just makes a new meta.
You can’t not have a meta.
No, there isn’t a mode where good decks don’t beat bad ones
Not saying there should be a restricting of the meta, in fact I’d prefer it if they would stop limiting cards in duels, but having a ranked match making system in casual just incentivises extreme competitiveness, I’d rather there be a “rankless” mode where you are just as likely to play against a new player as a grandmaster, or at the very least not making your ranking visible. If there is a sense of competitive play there will always be those people who will do “anything” to win even if it isn’t interactive to play against or interesting in the least. Even then this won’t eliminate a meta, but it might reduce the number of players going for a cut-throat style of gameplay.
What you want is impossible…
All this would do is spread the player base out even more and thus increase the amount of bots we’d all see.
What mode have you been mixing up with casual ?
There’s no ranking in casual. There certainly is a hidden rating to prevent newcomers to match up against pro players, which is a good thing, but that’s it.
One thing you may underestimate is that casual doesn’t mean sandbox. I only started playing ranked after months if not years of casual because I didn’t want the stress of a ranking making me consider my losses too hard. Now I don’t care about it but when I did, playing casual was my way of playing the same game as the others.
The only real difference between the 2 is your relation with the ranked system. Ranked is the sandbox of many players, me included
I agree. Maybe let the achievements work in Casual as well. That way I can have some fun with lesser decks.
If you want friendly games, make friends and play them
Even if you started with everyone having a “lower power” decks, one person would say X card(s) would make my deck better, and you end up with regular hearthstone.
If you are looking for a mode that leads to no win condition play, it would be filled with greed attrition priests full of the most greedy cards possible.
I agree with the first paragraph that you posted. Good point.
Now, what the heck does greed attrition priest have to do with the topic? I think you’ve had a few too many wobbly pops my friend. You’ve completely forgotten about GREED NOURISH NUTRITION ATTRITION MANA ADDITION DRUID. Druid is the greed class. Get with the greed program my friend. Priest is fine!
If you care about player satisfaction at all you want skill differences to remain invisible to all the scrubs out there. Strictly matchmaking by MMR, like against like. Heck, they’re ALREADY whining about losing even when we try to prevent them from playing people better than them, if we let actual good players face them the QQ would crash the servers.
Try arena then, just 1 legendary per deck and you don’t need to own any of the cards, can’t go more casual than that.
People play casual to do quests, to learn decks, to figure out new decks and to try something different ie a interesting off meta deck
Sadly at least 2 of those reasons is going to lead them to play a tier 1 meta deck even if they have never played it before.
What is the solution? the real casual where you pinky promise to not play any deck copied from the web?
