No, WE cannot.

They could.

How you read the collected stats is subjective, but I could easily see FIVE deck archetypes being better than any pala yesterday. In such a meta with various powerful decks: only nerfing ONE just KILLS the deck; that’s because everyone would flock to another powerful deck; why would you play paladin at all if you see at least 3 or 4 other archetypes being extremely good right now and even better than pala under certain filtering?

I’m not sure what’s going on, maybe it’s just a low sample on my end, but yesterday was an interesting change on the ladder

Until yesterday, I played 21/425, 5% of games against Pala this patch

Yesterday I changed 2 cards and proceeded to play 8/29, 27,6% against Pala (most of them handbuff, but there appears to be a new deck on the ladder, it’s not yet visible on HSGuru, so I guess some streamer played it last night and people copied it promptly)

Are people getting sick of playing Druid? I can easily see that happen. I gave it up after 100 games as every game starts to look the same

Anyway, not sure what’s going on, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough

EDIT: Just queued my 1st game today, and it’s Paladin! So I guess it wasn’t just a low sample issue - Pally is back to make our lives miserable yet again

I see that you keep misunderstanding in several of your posts that your sample of 1 player as important. The randomness in this game is too chaotic for a single player to predict their opponents.

Also there are various ways to even read the stats; e.g. filter the meta stats of hsguru for top 1K by at least 100 games per archetype or at least 500; both are valid since 100 in 24H isn’t nothing.

I hate Flood Paladin. I hate playing it, I hate playing against it. It’s a stupid and lame deck. It’s like they took Zoolock, removed the skill, and added everything awful about modern Hearthstone—ridiculous mana cheats and insane board swings. Nerfing that worthless deck out of existence would be a huge positive. Maybe Paladin can get a deck next expansion that isn’t this disgrace. It’s literally using one card from the new expansion; everything else is the exact same. What a joke.

then dont play it???

The only Paladin deck that needs some adjusting is Handbuff Paladin. It’s still really popular and still a meta tyrant, but I don’t know if they will even nerf it because they keep nerfing around it.

The problem with nerfing around it constantly is that you indirectly buff it.

If they nerf it, I think the perfect nerf is making the weapon cost 5 mana because all the buffs need to be slowed down a turn. It hits way too hard in the mid game and beats all the other mid to late game decks aside from Evolve Shaman.

One thing that I think makes it a problem is that aggro is really the only thing that beats it. If you’re not aggro and you’re not Evolve Shaman, you don’t have a positive win rate against Handbuff Paladin in the overall scheme of things.

Will it get nerfed? Probably not. Nerfing around Paladin to see how the meta responds has been a go to move with their nerfs on the class for quite some time. They only nerf it when their hand is forced.

nerf all the good decks then, lets make more decks viable  . also at this point im emotionally invested in killing paladin anyway so yeah. only killing paladin is fine by me as well

Still would like to know why they removed Devolving missiles and Polymorph from the base set.

Wut. A minor nerf of it will obliterate it because there are several decks that are either on par with it or slightly better or slightly worse.

You just play with decks that lose to it.

I like how he’s all “pally is meta tyrant” but then right after that be like “here’s a bunch of decks that beat it”

Of course, he makes it sound like having to be paper to beat rock is a bad thing that needs fixing.

Anyways, even if we ignore the rhetoric, let’s look at the data, VS 301 has handbuff at tier 2 at top 1k. It’s better in the lower ranks of course, but at those ranks you see other decks from other classes in tier 1 as well.

From vs 301, the meta overall has most classes having at least one ok deck. 3 classes are struggling: warriors, mages, and hunter. The first 2 are likely from the nerfs, while hunter is just pretty dead.

More decks lose to it than not.

It’s a tier 1 deck throughout the entire meta, except in top 1k legend, where it barely gets bumped to tier 2.

It’s just another deck that cheats out overwhelming stats too early and too consistently, and if you manage to not die to that, oops 25 damage Leeroy.

Both decks are stupid and lame, tbh and again neither fun to play nor play against. Bring back Secret Paladin and make Divine Shield Paladin viable for once. That’s what they should do next expansion.

Too fair for modern Blizzard; they prefer 3 mana to clear the entire board and get three 3/3s with Rush.

Lucky guy, I not been having much fun playing against paladin for the past couple of YEARS!!!

Just remove “crusader Aura”!!
It is ruining everybody’s experience!

While that card is annoying (it could have done that effect one time and still be worth 4)… It’s easily the more reasonable to deal with thing than the 4 Mana 6 damage with lifesteal and +3/+3 to your entire hand.

The stuff that can handle flood paladin is more varied than what can consistently handle handbuff.

Yeah but the rest are several decks. By that logic everything in the top 20 decks is too op since there are hundreds of decks recorded to have a lot of games (thousands on few games).

Point is that there are at least 10 entire archetypes this meta that compete relatively well; paladin can’t survive even 1 small nerf; its players will just abandon it for other netdecks.

Flood paladin hasn’t been great for almost a month. It was only good when others were goofing around with the new cards. Now I doubt it’s in the best 20 archetypes or if it is it’s barely.
