Can we just agree Reynad was right

Like how can you legit have a competitive game with this much random BS rng like seriously how is that good for the games competitive integrity? Like you know whats really fun playing against a deck and properly playing your deck against it and then oh nvm cuz he just randomly generated a niche card thats useful for him at the moment or even worse he generates an extra copy of an already good card from his deck like how does that make sense to have so much BS RNG in a game you want to be competitive and to be called an E-sport like its so trigerring to lose games where your playing it properly and then your opponent generates an extra spell damage minion and then 3 direct dmg spells and its like awesome that was fun to play Good Job Blizz

Did something like this recently happen to you? (Ff to last turn) https://hsreplay.net/replay/2CyBc6AZmQRtVcvpLDceXH

Well, its a card game, winning or losing doesnt mean you are bad or good. Specially when everyone uses the same decks.

Even if there are no cards with RNG effects, you still have to deal with the RNG in draw cards which Will be a deciding factor in wining or losing. My advice? Dont take it seriously when you lose, if you played well, then there was nothing more you could have done, if you played bad, then improve.

Lol all I needed to see on that replay was puzzle and im like yup I know whats going to happen, But thats not really my point. My point is in a card game which already has RNG in it with draws its stupid to add that level of game altering RNG and still try to say its a competitively viable game like its just dumb to have hearthstone as an ā€œEsportā€ and have tourneys and stuff for it, but then have BS stuff like that decide the outcome of the game , like when you have this many RNG effects being just a part of every deck then I think thats an issue. Just lke when people complained YOG decided games its basically the same thing now except its not a single big card that decides it but multiple smaller cards that do it

I don’t like the direction that the game has taken either.
As a mage player, I have watched my class go from linear, thoughtful decks to janky slot machine cards that either win or lose based on chance rather than strategy.
I also believe that DH is partly to blame for the amount of RNG we are seeing as creating the class seriously limited design space for the original classes. I can’t see this sort of thing being good for the overall health of competition. Some RNG is fine, but Blzzard has carried the theme way too far imo.

@Mallenroh thats exactly my point like I’ve played HS since just slightly after beta so I’ve seen how the game had some RNG that could decide a game but it wasn’t as prevalent as it is now. Before it was oh maybe rag shoots something and I lose or win sometimes to nowadays its oh every single deck played has multiple oh maybe this card just gets something to win me the game and it adds up pretty quickly , which just ruins the game as a competitive type game

A competitive game nowadays doesn’t mean there is skill involved in it. It means the company gets something in return by marketing it as competitive.

Mate when you played Survival of the Fittest, you didnt have a board and you sent an entire turn. After 2 - 3 turns, you gained back the board, with powerful minions, as powerful as we can say he didnt had a chance. Do to +4 +4 everything. At this point your 10 mana epic spell almost gave you the win. The opponent played his 10 mana epic spell for randomness and won because of it.
You both risked a turn for it. Box doesnt say: ā€˜Win the game’, nor Survival of the Fittest do. It was fair. You like it or not.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this season in part due to the RNG factor playing mostly highlander mage. The two things I like the most are that every game is different, and that there’s always a small chance you might clinch a win even if you’re losing heavily, so you never feel totally out of a game. There’s plenty of times my Reno hero power or puzzle box has wrecked me instead but that can be funny too

It doesnt matter for the opponent, It only matters for him if puzzle makes you win the game.:stuck_out_tongue:

Oh my glob has this already happened to Priest?

I don’t know, has it? Priest seems really decent in power this expansion, but i don’t play it. Mage is good too, if you like the amount of RNG.

@MissFortuna you miss the point and those are completely different things survival has a static effect that you know what it is and you can account for and play around. puzzle and the spells im talking about are completely random. You play against a mage and you know he has no secrets in his deck because you know he cant make space for them then he randomly gets one how are you supposed to play around that or him playing evocation and getting double frostbolt and missiles for lethal like thats what i m talking about

What are you talking about? This game is AWESOME!!!

But I didnt even reply on you.

It is only those without skill who enjoy the RNG.

People with skill are used to getting their victories through their skill.
Unskilled people just want to actually get any victories. They feel proud when they take down a ā€œgoodā€ player, regardless of how they do it because they normally would lose to a ā€œgoodā€ player.

I’ve seen this in countless games throughout my life.

LOL did the same thing. They removed the majority of skill and made it so Joe Schmoe sucks-at-games can feel like a pro because they can do well at an extremely simplified DOTA, which itself is a simplified Warcraft 3. Skilled gamers ditched that game a long, long time ago, just as they have with this game.

this. well said. Some of you guys take this game too seriously…this is not a life purpose…just to have some fun.

What do you mean not a life purpose people legit make money of this game either by streaming or by playing tournaments and winning money which is my whole point of the post. IDK why yall dont read and pay attention to what the post is about before commenting but it makes sense why you guys would be for it lol

Actually I am still amazed people are still kinda trying to force ā€œcompetitiveā€ tag to a HS.

Sure, you still compete against other players. But same you do in ā€œwho can piss furtherā€ or ā€œwho can drink more whiskyā€ or ā€œwho can guess a random numberā€ etc.

But a lot of players thinks for some reason HS is epitome of competitive gameplay with all of its features.

I mean - if you are looking for a game that would heavily test your knowledge, experience, skill, decision making etc. why the hell are you playing HS? There are tons of games that would give you that and you are looking for that in this game? Why for gods sake?

Its like going to a library and being pissed you cannot smoke, drink a beer, watch a football and talk with your friends there.

Gotta quote that. Many people say Puzzle Box is a I-win card, but really, yesterday i had my first overwhelmingly positive box in nearly two seasons. Every single time i used box before it either lost me the game or did nothing.

The worst being one that failed to destroy a single minion, and instead put a Vargoth on board for the priest, Rune’d it, and copied it with Luminescense.

Seriously, puzzlebox wins as many games as it loses.
