They did fix it briefly before the last 2 generations of BGs. (Before the anomalies and before the trinkets). It would ramp up the speed of BG combat to like 2x to 4x normal speed. IDK why they abandoned it but I imagine it had something to do with the trinkets and anomalies affecting the combat too heavily (im thinking of the ones that add x attack to a beast when it attacks and increase it permanently after every time a beast attacks, and others similar to it that essentially insert an animation onto every attacking minion in combat in either direction or both).
They already have a skip function. Alt F4 is your skip button. Just like an Auto Squelch is too confusing to add as a QoL option so too is a normal skip button. You have to use the Alt F4 skip button and deal with the inconvenience.
But it not part of the game itself. You have to use a 3rd party app. Just like skip battle button in BG. You have to either do a janky work around or use a 3rd party app when it should just be built into the game.
You can either accept that there are tools to get you where you’d like to be, or settle for putting in no effort at all on your end to get yourself there. Whining about it on the forums like you are Skywalker family member wont get you anything at all. Luke never did get those Power Converters he had on lay away at Tosche station… Anakin never did think the way he was being trained was fair… Ben Solo (Kylo Ren) never did get dear old Grandpa Vader’s actual approval.
You whining about auto squelch not being built into the game itself wont ever achieve anything. Especially when there are methods available to you already. My yard didnt come with a flagpole and light as standard issue when i got my place. but there were tools and methods I could seek out myself to get what I wanted. Complaining to the bank for as long as I owe them a mortgage wont ever get me that flagpole and light even if i think it should have been included as a standard thing by now.
As for long combats, well you need to learn to recognize the lobbies that are likely to have them and just not build equally potential long combat boards of your own. If you are encountering maximum beetle summons or undead summons or whatever, dont build the exact same type of board as that if you wish to have shorter combats.
What about BG skip button. Should people be forced to jank their way through with Alt F4. I am just saying we shouldn’t have to be forced to use a 3rd party or jank for stuff that should be in the game naturally but we have greedy idiots that make the design decisions so I guess we should be ecstatic if the game runs at all.
It’s like having a car that is missing the seats. Sure you can just throw in a crate to sit on but why should you have to. The car should come with seats.
No, it isnt like that at all. if this is going to be a car metaphor, and since this is an auto battle mode of the game, then we are already given self driving mode as a default… then what you are expecting is INSTANT TRAVEL button to press, skipping all the actual movements of getting from point a to point b and just arriving at point b at the press of a button. something entirely unrealistic and by our society’s technology, not possible (yet).
You arent forced to use Alt F4, you could avoid making builds that take up all that combat time. you could avoid even playing in lobbies that have the tribes that can even make those compositions on your own free will. it is more like “here is an auto driving vehicle that can take you anywhere you want between these 5 cities” and your issue is that the travel time between the 2 furthest cities offered takes too long for you. No one is forcing you to engage in doing that in the first place, its up to you if you want to but its a personal decision going into it. Same with lobbies that have tribes that yield long combats. You arent forced to do anything and can bail at any time.
The game gives you so many things, and there are supplemental features offered by HSReplay that are available to you as well but arent mandatory. What the PLAYERS ought to bring with them as a standard is some common sense that they can exercise free will to make decisions about the way they wish to play this game such as when to bail on a lobby with tribes they dont enjoy, or to use 3rd party things or not.
A lot more people have played World of Warcraft for a lot longer than how many have ever played Hearthstone, and addons from 3rd parties have been available to use since the beginning essentially. No one forces anyone to go out and find them but if you want a better experience playing the game that is why they exist. Over decades SOME of those addons features have found their way into the actual game design itself which is fine. But there is a reason there is Retail WoW, and Classic WoW. and even with both of those there are still communities of players that are all in on addons and other that play the game without any at all. Because every last one of them know to bring their ability to exercise their free will.
Try it some time. That is of course, if you arent already doing so when loading Hearthstone unless you are being forced to against you own will.
You can’t avoid the builds you opponents have. You have no control there other than just concede because this crappy time eating tribe is in your lobby.
Wow had basic functionality for stuff built in. The 3rd party add-on just gave you more customization than the basic WoW UI. Then you got the extras stuff that adds bells and whistles. Hearthstone doesn’t even get the basics. All you get is a volume slider and choose a resolution.
For BG’s tThe journey is already done. They are just forcing you to watch a replay with obnoxiously slow animations eating up your prep time for the next jouney. That’s why Alt F4 works at all. If the battle wasn’t already done if you Alt F4 it would just put you right back in the middle of the battle instead of letting you start your next turn. Why shouldn’t people just be able to skip the unnecessarily long and slow battle animations naturally instead of janking their way through by closing and reopening the game? It’s like you are going on a cross country trip by airplane but when the airplane land you have to wait for the one cheap guy that decided to road trip to it instead of fly to arrive before you can actually leave the plane.
They actually did have a speed up for the DR builds and then they had to disable it because it was causing problems. It is disappointing IMO as well that the timer can get messed up so badly by that. The absolute worst of all is when you are playing and there’s tons of Lag because of the Demons builds. They still have yet to identify why Demon builds in lobbies are causing all this lag and it’s kind of pathetic.
If anything i think the lack of those that know the Hearthstone code fully and how far they have stretched it since launch are starting to show. They should probably rebuild it from the ground up again but i doubt they ever get the funding for that.
I accepted the fact 2 years ago they were moving from a “competitive Battlegrounds” to a “casual and fun Battlegrounds”.
You can fill in the rest of the blanks yourself, I like Battlegrounds but think of it as an entertaining time-killer with numerous “competitive flaws” (you know, the thing they aren’t trying to do, even if you wanted them to).
The BGs game mode is an auto battle-er. It is designed to be a mostly passive gaming experience. If you want less passive gameplay, there is regular hearthstone with modes such as Tavern brawl, Standard, Arena, Wild, and there is even a bunch of non multiplayer content at your discretion as well.
complaining that an auto battle game mode includes auto battles you arent meant to be able to skip is like complaining about not having the option to skip to the 2nd or 3rd date with a person without having to go thru the first date itself. You arent meant to be able to skip that. Its sort of the point. To go thru it. if that aint for you, then maybe it aint BGs that has the issue, but you that has the issue with BGs.
What does it have anything to do with the game putting you into a cycle of turns you can’t play. I had games where “watching the game” would skip 4 buying phases
AlT+F4 already works, people are using it at higher ranks cuz it’s unplayable otherwise.
Since it works, and everyone is using it, it should be a feature after 10 turns, keep early game normal, and you can still watch
Is this in BG’s or Duo’s? I have yet this season to see ANY build skip a buy phase in BG’s. What they do need to do is figure out why the speed up they created broke the game and bring that back.
No we don’t because we don’t need to. Our APM is already fast enough to account for a shorter timer.
Again, not everyone does that. In fact most don’t.
Low budget gacha games from small developers that are auto battler have a functioning skip button for combat. Why can’t a AAA big name studio like Blizzard do the same. Are these small time programmers locked up in their sweat shop dungeon that much better at coding then Blizzard?
I know what you are talking about but your example of Zero seconds to play is hyperbole. Also spending 100 gold is quite difficult but also creating 100 gold is basically pointless and only done by streamers for clips.
Now if you are referring to last season then yes i can absolutely see getting Zero seconds to play because of the endless Pirate build. However that build no longer exists and there is literally no build that can run that long even with the minor speed up they have in currently.
