Im tired of so many things that need you to have open space at the start of combat in order for them to appear at all. Yet there are others that operate logically and when space is available for them to appear, thats when they do. I get it for things like a 1k attack rat with a deathrattle that summons as many of them as it has attack, that makes sense not to continue populating the board with all 1k of them as they go down. But the start of combat ones like the n’zoth fish not appearing because your kel thuzad went off just prior to the start of combat and filled all those empty spots with the reborn and exact copy… nerfing your entire build because now you only get 1 pass of deathrattles instead of 2. The Beetle Taunter behaves logically and it appears when it can towards the beginning of the combat. But the poison ball needs that room to go off… can we just make all start of combat appearance minions behave the same? They appear when there is room eventually? The mixture of behaviors is just making it to where I just avoid all of them entirely because I cannot build a strong enough board to use them since undead and beasts nearly always need every slot available and more.
I agree and disagree. Trinket effects go off (for the most part) before your minion start of turn effects. The Kel Thuzad example absolutely works fine with the fish, so I dont know why you mentioned it. The problem is that YOUR hero powers that also have ‘start of turn’ go off before the trinket, which can make you lose some value. Having the fish on the board to buff would be nice, but it also means the fish cannot be sniped by start of turn stuff some of the time, like Tavish. It also means that it cannot be stolen by most heroes since its not on your board to take. Also, you get to keep a spot open for cycling buff cards, of which there are ALOT now.
Most other cards that do not summon unless you have a spot open I agree on though the poison minion should stay where it is. Otherwise it will be a ‘required’ spend instead of an option.
If you leave yourself the one space open for the fish, and kel thuzad is next to a reborn undead, you will get the reborn, and the one kel resummons takes the spot of the fish you left empty. Meaning youve got to have a board that consists of only 5 minions total to result in 6 at end of turn to allow for the fish to generate. having a board of only 5 just isnt strong enough especially if they are all long time built units. The fish should just appear once there is room for it. and you might lose out on a couple deathrattles at the start of the match but it wouldnt be a total waste of a trinket and it wouldnt be a total surrender to only building up 5 minions to allow for kel + fish
I havent seen very many new cycling minions for either undead or beasts.
KT isn’t supposed to work and give you the effect plus anything else you might add to board without first thinking out how many spaces you need. That would defeat the power of the card and make it more powerful than it already is. I mean thankfully Nightbane is gone so we no longer have to deal with that BS.
Planning out your board is a very important part of BG’s. Knowing what your opponent is playing and putting the correct minions early, middle and last can be the difference in a win or loss.
Having the fish show up later makes it harder to counter. Blaster is an important card in the current meta and a good counter to the Fish builds.
I dont recognize any of those named minions aside from kel and fish lol. but if Ive been building an undead board and they are in their upper 80s across them all and all have reborn, once i come across kel i cant justify sacrificing one of them just for the spacing kel will need in order for kel, the reborned, the summoned exact copy, and room for fish still… it ends up kneecapping me in one way or another. Either I lose out on fish, which is a LOT of the repeated deathrattles such as the t7 nightmares propogating over and over… or I leave room for fish and kneecap myself by dropping one of the big hitters with high hp and now ive got 1/4 to 1/5 less deathrattles and reborned to rely on… but kel is just about the only method of getting triples on anything tier 5/6/7.
