It’d be cool to watch how the match unfolds after it’s over.

Use Firestone, and watch the replays, not working on mobile though.
I believe this person is talking about battlegrounds
It replays battlegrounds. I guess you mean spectate others after you lose. Yeah it’s a good idea.
you can, just be grouped with a friend first, doesnt even need to be duos, you can do this in the FFA classical BGs. If one of you dies, when it brings you back to to the staging area you can click on your friends list and see your friend still in the match and spectate them.
Not practical. This requires a friend to do so in the first place. This also leaves out casual solo-players, and hardcore solo-players.
no. You can’t have nothin’. Team 5 only cares about taking.
And forcing 7/7/7 minions because it “sounds good”. Or requiring 42 hp on the two heroes because it ‘sounds funny’. Balance is on the back burner.
I thought we were talking about spectating?
Well the ability is there. Its only your own unwillingness to make a friend or your personality’s inability to make a friend that is preventing you from getting what you asked for. Also, i never thought i’d encounter someone arguing that “having a friend”… ahem… “leaves out casual solo-players…”
Dude, you’re missing the point of the request. The ability to spectate a match that you are currently in without the requirement of having added friends to spectate them is not there.
My friends aren’t interested in Hearthstone. Whenever I try to add people onto hearthstone, one of two things happens:
-or-
Your comment is deconstructive and not at all helpful or empathetic. As if the ability to spectate in a random match is a “me” problem.
Also, you can’t add people during a match of duos, or during a live match of single HS BGs.
you can add your duos partner, just before youve selected a hero, the moment you hit confirm on your hero choice the option is no longer there. next time before you pick, check your friend list and there will be one in the mix that doesnt say current opponent. you have just as much luck actually getting anyone to confirm the add before your match is over, but its there still.
also, bro, you are on the forums, you ask for people to add you so you can spectate someone else’s bgs or party up and continue to spectate your party member for the rest of the match beyond your own ending. just cuz your circle of friends dont HS dont mean there isnt an entire internet of folk out there that dont hs either. either drop a gamertag id for someone to add you or if anyones willing to drop theirs, there are a plenty of helpful and friendly folk round here.
your overall request for just a random spectate of a match is called watching a streamer play instead. but if you wish to see how a match you were in ends after youve been eliminated, this is the way. party up, and when you die and your other party member hasn’t, enjoy the show from their pov. because itd be an unfair advantage to be able to spectate ANYONE else that wasnt in your premade party because then you could collude or cheat and inform others of what you are seeing someone do. Not suggesting you would or anything, thats just the obvious risk involved with what you are requesting.
You could’ve said this from the start.
Not that hard to code a limit to who you spectate if you’re in said premade.
Spectating others would be great for solo queue.
I think the option would be neat, ill admit, but I think they probably thought thru this to hell and back and how it could be abused and so on which is probably why spectating within the game client is set the way it is. I think if some rando not even on my friends list suddenly began spectating me during a match I might be inclined to just alt f4 outta there… lil bit on the creepy side lol. at least if they on my friends list already it isnt anything other than an “oh hey! can you believe my luck right now?! lol” whereas if some creeper jumped into my same pov and since we arent friends we cant even communicate to each other and now I feel like Im being John Malcoviched suddenly.
I think non group, non friends listed spectating is fine as tuning into a streamer playing. They expect to have a bunch of silent or mostly silent eyes on their every move. lol. I know I wouldnt be able to enjoy the game as much as normal if now someone can witness my every move, non move, misplays, etc.
To clarify, they wouldn’t be able to speak to you. It’s a true spectate. I just want to see how people adapted to me and how their strategies played out in the end. I’d rather not watch someone else play when I can do it myself and have something directly tied to me. I can watch streamers til the sun comes down, but they usually aren’t my playing style. I liked WoWhobbs back in the day before BGs because when he began he was sort of a pilgrim pioneer for priests using them in a very unique way. I respected him for that when everyone else was chasing meta. I have this horrid habit of trying to make things work that shouldn’t work - work. So, that’s the value in the spectate I’m seeking.
I can see what you are seeking but at the same time I cant not see people abusing it or misusing it in order to essentially cheat or euphemistically speaking, engage in insider trading. I mean the same could be done already with the available method I outlined before by just being in a party and both queue together into a normal FFA BGs match. Members of that party can alert each other to things and when facing each other even “pull their punches” (doing the worst possible minion placement for example like leading your attack with your Rivendale so as not to steamroll and eliminate your friend because the match still makes you hostile to each other despite being in your own party together.) but these sorts of things wouldnt be possible in a competitive scenario as tournaments monitor everything and obviously groups within the FFA matches would just be against the tourney rules and all that. But the regular non competitive games we all engage in everyday might be having these kinds of hijinks going on.
