the new tavernbrawl is just dumb, dks can just give you half a deck of useless bs you cant use cause no corpses
Yeah I wonder when Blizzard will give us a patch. Currently only Celestalon said on Twitter that they are planning to do sth. about it.
You expect way too much from this batch of interns and India based developers.
It’s not just DK with corpses, you can build a deck for a lot of classes that won’t do anything for others:
Mage with Hero Power buffs (only Hunter can take advantage)
Shaman with Totems
Paladin with Silver Hand Recruits
Etc.
you can still summon totems and recruits and hero power stuff you cant fill a deck with
That’s kind of the point of the brawl, though.
I saw that and I wish they wouldn’t, tbh. I would rather see them make more unique class mechanics and if you can’t use them, then don’t steal cards.
I agree that there should be more unique mechanics, but the corpse mechanic shouldn’t, because random cards exists. Though I wouldn’t mind, if they would change it that way so corpse cards cannot be copied (eg. Priest cards) nor created through random cards like from the 2-mana 3/1. And don’t forget Theotar, who should not allow to trade this cards, then I would be fine with that.
On the contrary I have to say that other classes already have access to specific cards from other classes through this random cards, so why should be Death Knight an exception?
That’s dumb. What can other classes do, if Blood DK plays Theo and gives you corpse explosion?
Shadow Priest cries in the corner.
Nothing. It’s a dead card. That sucks. Deal with it.
They can also play their own theo and give it back.
For the record I absolutely despise the copy/steal mechanic and think it’s purely born of lazy, sloppy design.
It’s as though they ran out of time to make actual cards for a couple classes so they say, fine, just take someone else’s.
I’m literally fine with the down side of steal/copy is that you risk getting a completely dead card in your hand. RNG is RNG.
But this is totally tangential to this brawl, which the point is to make a deck that your opponent can’t benefit from as much as you can.
I think people who have brought up this argument in the past are missing the point of the corpse mechanic. In terms of lore, there’s only three classes that really manipulate corpses: Warlock, Shadow Priest, and Death Knight. Obviously, Death Knights in Hearthstone were just introduced with the corpse mechanic because that is their whole identity, raising corpses and utilizing corpses to create an undead army, sucking the life force from corpses and transferring it into power elsewhere. There’s no way that all the classes should be able to utilize corpses. Maybe in the future, Warlock and Shadow Priest/Priest might be able to utilize the corpse mechanic, but for right now, it makes sense that the other classes wouldn’t be able to utilize something specifically Death Knights wield power over and have a specialty in.
It seems you have a weird understanding of “dead card”. There is a difference between dead card that cannot be played, because some conditions missing like deadly posion without a weapon and corpse explosion, which isnt working, because you have the wrong class. I don’t have something against the first, but I have a big problem against the second, because it shouldnt be allowed to get cards in hand, which you can’t play, because you have a wrong class.
If they don’t fix this… there is only one option to fix this, when there is a DK hero card, but it still sucks, because there way more options to get dk cards than single hero cards.
They are the same. There is no difference.
You don’t have a weapon? Dead card. Don’t have a hero power that does direct damage? Dead card. You don’t have a corpse? Dead card.
I have no issues with this and wish there was more of it.
Stop stealing and make your own deck and this doesn’t happen.
Except every hero has access to weapons, but only one hero has access to the corpse mechanic and cards, while others can get those cards, but they are useless, if you are not a dk. And corpse cards, except corpse explosion or army of the dead aren’t useless at all in other classes, just worse.
Nonsense. Stealing is part of the game, if you dont like it, it’s on you, but others like me like it and that’s why it is a problem.
Edit:
It’s pointless to discuss with you. I am out.
So what? Don’t steal cards and it’s never an issue.
Like, I don’t understand why anyone thinks they should be able to use them. The risk of playing a deck that steals from the opponent is that what you steal will be effectively useless. That’s the downside, and this is consisted with that downside.
And it shouldn’t be to the degree that decks are based around it. It’s lazy design.
Because you are wrong. Your deck fails vs dk. Sucks. Play a different list or deal with it.
Blizzard has already said they intend to fix it, I simply don’t think that’s the correct answer. I would rather they doubled down on unique mechanics that dont’ work for other classes than cave to lazy steal decks that are BS toxic play style.
Can’t say I disagree with any of this. 8f you’re wanting to steal cards then you run the risk of stealing useless stuff on occasion.
Yep sure. Make more counters to theft cards. But make the theft cards actually STEAL the card at the same time, the vast majority only copy them. If me having a dead card in hand is fine, you losing your copy of the card I steal is just as fine.
Sounds like a fair trade to me.
So why there cards like the sunwell that gives DK other special cards like outcast or combo and he can use this unique mechanics, but his mechanic should be protected? Sorry that’s Sound stupid. Your theory only counts for deckbuilding and not for the game itself, otherwise too many things need a change.
Fix all dead mechanics of cards stolen or random generated. Get a weapon enchant spell but your deck lacks a weapon? Have it generate a 0 cost 1/1 weapon we can call “Pity” for you out of pity. Assuming your hand has the space. Cant make corpses because not a death knight? Have it give you a 0 cost spell named “Coffin”, lets you generate and keep corpses until the end of your next turn. Get a Hero Power buff card that lets it do +1 damage but your hero power doesnt do direct damage? Have it generate a 0 cost spell and lets call it “Ping!” that gives you a Mage’s Hero Power til the end of turn. And so on and so forth for all the dead cards for fill in the class or fill in the deck or fill in the circumstance.
There is precedence for this as when you use the cards that would give you additional mana crystals and you are already at max, it gives you another card that lets you simply draw a card. Not the same but could be a more dynamic, intriguing way to combat the idea of balance for this topic.
Nice satire, Cramer. I grant you that.
I wasnt being satirical? It was a genuine thought being put forth as a stab in the dark / brainstorm/ thought web approach for balance when discussing this whole archetype of a topic of “dead cards in hand you didnt build your deck to have in hand.”
I was trying to be a bit whimsical and humorous with the whole weapon named Pity tho lol.
there’s a difference between a card that does nothing when you play & a card that you can’t even play, that just sits there, taking up space in your hand
