Can anyone explain how the match ups work? I just got out of a Battleground where I only fought the lowest 2 players once (I ended up 5th/tied for 4th), did not fight one player at all and repeatedly fought top 3. I would think if the BG goes long enough I would at least fight every other character, but this does not happen. I even had the chance to fight the ghost of the player that I never fought and didn’t even get that. There is so much RNG with match-ups and card options already, I would think at the very least you would face each opponent once if you survived long enough.
This has been a consistent criticism of the hero matching in BG because of how much damage certain heroes do early, and how intuitive it seems that you should play against everyone in the lobby.
There may be cases where people dying mess up the ability to match against all players, but I haven’t thought through those scenarios to see if that is really a problem at all.
It’s random who you will be facing. Except you can’t get the same person until you play against 2 others (unless they are the only other opponent left) (used to be against 1 other before you could match against the same person but they changed it due to feedback).
Yeah get matched up against Yogg, Raffaam then AFk in that order and you are all but done and you never had a chance to win any of those three match ups. Sucks that so much of the game depends on the viability of the early matchups you can’t control and the hero’s that you are offered.
On top of that, then getting to keep playing people who have to play from behind gives them a huge opportunity to be greedy. Millhouse getting to tavern up over and over because he keeps playing the same wounded opponents who are forced to stay at lower tiers to stay alive instead of having to play against another hero like puzzle box is just brutal.
