Can I safely disenchant Legacy cards?

So i notice I have cards on both “Core” and “Legacy” tabs.

My knowlege of the game is old. “Back in my day”, core cards were earned by leveling each class, and the rest by openning packs (or crafting).

Is it safe to disenchant my Legacy cards? at least the ones conteined on Core? For instance, I have an Antoniadas in Legacy and another one in Core.

If i disenchant the Legacy one, I believe I’ll still have it on the Core set, but won’t be able to use it on wild, correct?

You will be able to use your core Tony in wild for as long as he remains “core”.
If they remove him from core, then you will need the “legacy” version to play him in wild.

Core is not forever free. It’s cards they let you borrow until they switch up Core and the selection of free cards you can use for the year. Don’t cry to Blizzard about how they deleted your cards when they switch up Core again after you deleted your Legacy cards yourself.

You might use these cards in tavern brawl since they are often wild sets enabled.

Nope, core didn’t exist
Basic cards were earned by leveling class, classic cards were earned through classic packs
When they introduced the core set, they put basic, classic and hall of fame cards into the legacy set. Each year the legacy set welcomes the cards that were created FOR the core set but rotated out of it, or event cards that are no longer standard-legal

You will be able to play the core version in all formats that accept core (wild accepts core)
But you have no guarantee that these cards will still be core next year, and you won’t receive their legacy version once they rotate out

in short

no

Core is up guaranteed only for 1 year (a rotation), but there’s a chance a card stays in for more, but I wouldn’t count on any of them remaining.

Maybe Shadowstep, forever Shadowstep.

core is up for any number of years
some cards rotate out after only a year, some stayed for 4 years before rotating out, and some are there for their 5th

People who disenchant cards that become core are the same people who cannot figure out where their cards went every year when core rotates.

If it is a card you like to play in your wild decks, do not disenchant the legacy version.

I genuinely think these are 2 separate types of people
those who complain about missing cards did not disenchant the original version, they simply never owned it, but thought they did because they had the cards in their collection, and assumed they either crafted or got them from packs
Most often they complain about missing cards that were introduced by the core set, cards that they could not have crafted or disenchanted anyway

That was Basic, not Core. Back in the day when you started the game, you were given a small number of Basic cards for each class, and you could unlock more by playing each class and leveling up, and those cards were yours forever.

The game doesn’t work like that anymore.

No. Core cards are only on temporary loan. You do not own them. And the Core set changes every year. Blizzard removes some cards and adds others, to keep the Core set fresh and interesting.

If you disenchant your Legacy copy, then you’re at the mercy of Blizzard for whenever they decide to remove Antonidas from the Core set. That might be next year, or in two years, or never. We don’t know.

Wild decks permit any card, so yes, you can still use Core cards in Wild decks.

I corrected it a little, they’re guaranteed for 1 year (a rotation), and then it’s up in the air.
