Can we not make this completely random. The guy in 3rd place gets the ghost and has gotten 4 triples and is playing the strongest hero in the game (Gallywix), meanwhile I’m at 2 life and get denied the ghost 3 times in a row, while the next lowest people are at 13 life.
isnt it the person in last gets the ghost?
you’d think that would be the case.
Dude BGs is nothing but luck and you had bad luck that game.
The only reason you get to face a ghost is because there are an odd number of players left in the game. everyone gets paired up against a player until the odd one out cant be. That is who faces the ghost.
The most hilarious time I have ever was when I was facing the person in 2nd place, I was in 3rd, and the 1st player was facing a ghost. I lost to my enemy however they must have assumed they would lose against the final opponent so they just bailed I guess. The next part got me chuckling hard because the person in 1st lost against their ghost. So while I was in 3rd, lost my match up, I still ended up winning first place somehow because of nebulous reasons. Im assuming I was the last one physically still in the game lobby compared to when the other 2 bailed/lost.
It is not, although many people think this.
I played a player for the first time in the match on turn 15, promptly hit them for 36 damage, and felt bad for the player who I eliminated in third place the match before because they had beaten this other player the turn before when I faced the ghost.
I feel like besides forcing two rounds between being matched to the same player they should make times since last match up important in the assignments. I should have never gone 14 turns without facing that other player.
Me and a buddy on a weekly basis hang out IRL and play bgs side by side grouped up in queue. There have been games where we NEVER were matched together at all. the occasional time we are immediately facing each other. But the more common occurrence is we will, and without looking at each other’s screens or speaking a word to each other, will pick and build the exact same minions/build. The only thing that gives any clue to this prior to being matched against each other is hearing the same sound files played when picking and playing said minions echoing each other back to back. The irony being we are next to each other, grouped together, could be communicating our plans, could be avoiding picks favorable to each other, but instead we arent doing any of that and end up with the exact same builds essentially handicapping each other by hogging all the good picks for the same strategy.
Good times.
There should be rules about how it matches people who queue together and those should be published, imo.
Idc how they handle it, just tell us.
I think its the most fair when it is still just random pairings. The only way we could possibly do anything to affect the game lobby would be to purposefully avoid optimal build orders of our minions when we face each other. Like putting my Baron Rivendale out first instead of last for instance. But we dont do any of that, we just play each other as if we were playing any of the others in the lobby. But again, there are the random match ups RNG at play so we might never face each other when grouped. So even if that was the plan the random nature of BGs can easily negate that.
More times than I care to admit my buddy will kill me off long before I have gotten to tier 4 when he’s already at tier 6. and if he doesnt he would have put me into check position where the next enemy i face gets to claim the checkmate on me.
But when I do the winning of a round against him I will say “Sorry!” followed by “but you deserve it for the last time.lol”
It honestly might be or might not be.
I know you’re coming into the bg with good intentions, but what happens when half the lobby is grouped? Not sure how that affects things.
what happens when all the lobby is grouped? lol the nature of the format is random squared and then cubed. again the only way to affect the lobby is to not build in the correct orders to potentially get draws against team mates or to purposefully make sure not to eliminate each other. You can go in with the idea you will be murlocs and I will be beasts but the game might have decided we will both only ever see demons and pirates made plentiful to our picks. Plans in BGs is a mostly fruitless endeavor. I think the idea of having groups an option in bgs is to allow friends to guarantee they can play in the same match together, and to allow teams to match up against each other,(4v4 for instance)
If i recall the priority or matching for bgs when a group queues up is to find a similar groupings when its an even number (2v2v2v2) (4v4). I might be wrong tho.
I have at least 10-15 reasons this statement is invalid. Getting extra gold, albeit massive jumps in unique situations, is far from the best hero power.
