Geezus crist… im out for words… so many months in… and they change… NOTHING
What are you talking about… now warlock doesnt have to just play quest… they can make a deck to cheat out ultragigasaur on turn 5 or 6 to join all the other turn 5 or 6 mana cheat decks.
Talk about exciting!
Why are you still playing this game if it makes you so miserable?
The developers are right though. The meta is pretty balanced. The problem in standard isn’t balance, it’s just that its an insanely stale meta.
About the buffs:
Egg of Khelos
Khelos now has Taunt.
Rush would have been a better keyword to give it. Taunt isn’t going to turn the world on fire, it is better than nothing though.
Myrrex, the Crystalline
Old stats: 3/3
New stats: 3/4
This was seeing experimentation in Fyrakk Rogue, it will still see experimentation there as a tech card.
Possessed Animancer
Old Mana Cost: 6 Mana.
New Mana Cost: 5 Mana.
Mmm. If the tourist is in board, and you can play this and trigger it at turn 6, you could get 2 ultragigasaur. I don’t know, it can have potential, but at the same time, its just better to play starship lock or mill lock.
Asphyxiodon
Old stats: 6/10, Taunt.
New stats: 6/12 Taunt.
Same evaluation as Possessed Animancer. Has potential.
Ritual of Life
Old: Discover a 3-cost minion. Summon a 2/2 copy of it.
New: Discover a 3-cost minion. Summon a 2/3 copy of it.
Creature of Madness is better.
Ankylodon
Old: 8 Mana, 7/7.
New: 6 Mana, 7/5.
Midrange Hunter & Quest Hunter will love this.
Longneck Egg
Old: Deathrattle: Summon a 1/2 Beast. Give your minions +1/+1.
New: Deathrattle: Summon a 3/3 Beast. Give your minions +1/+1.
This card didn’t need a buff, Token Druid was already viable thanks to Panther Mask. It is a nice buff to increase the popularity of the deck.
Costume Merchant
Old stats: 1/3.
New stats: 2/4.
Interesting.
Tortotem
Old: 2 mana, 0/4.
New: 1 mana, 0/3.
Okay.
I think the only significant buff is for Ankylodon, because a non-beast Hunter could get more popular, and Quest Hunter is already almost viable, this could push it to complete viability. Longneck Egg buff was unnecessary, but it will help popularize Token Druid, if Token Druid gets good support next set, I can already see this card being unbuffed.
I like the following statement so much:
Upgrading Ankylodon gives Hunter a powerful Discover option through effects like Detailed Notes, while also making it a solid Beast for Quest Hunter and other Hunter decks.
If anyone wants to make a gif with confused Vincent Vega and words me looking for any Hunter decks and post it somewhere, feel free to do it, I’ll be glad
Nerfs were months late and didnt hit a single card. As usual.
The devs cannot be farther than “right”.
I can take one of the changes at random and we can discuss it so i can prove to you how useless the whole “patch” is.
What Token Druid, you lunatic? Are we in the same universe? Where do you see Token Druids on the ladder?
They made the change for Quest Druid… like its the only things holding it back. Let me explain something to you, IT CHANGES NOTHING. The Quest Druid is not a thing and it will never be a thing. I personally tried it and different ways, it lacks many things. Panther Mask solves a small issue, like card draw and egg activation, but many times you run out of HP before you finish your quest. You have no lifesteal and not enough activators to spawn Khelos for a proper defensive Taunt.
If they wanted to do something, they shoud’ve put all quests on the same level. How can you compare a deck like Quest Paladin, with Quest Druid for example? They aren’t in the same league no matter how you look at it, even though its suppose to be, fast aggro token build. Both classes suck at AOEs and so on and so forth.
And leaving this aside … the meta is so stale that baby murlocs spawn out of it.
I got to legend day 3 of this month using Token Druid, I even made a post here with the list. The archetype is fine once you notice that the egg package meant for quest druid is really bad, and that you should try to make a list similar to aggrodin, but with the good token cards in Druid. The deck as well got posted in Hearthstone Top Decks in Twitter (X) at the start of the month.
Here is the list:
Token
Class: Druid

To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone
Gee… thanks for the 38% winrate deck… You were very helpful
Looked to me like they really want lock to dominate.
I got to legend with it
. I’m not some 4d wizard that can play decks to their maximum potential. The only match up which is really horrid is against Aggrodin, against the other decks in the meta, you can win around turn 5. Just use Hatchery Helper wisely.
Also, the Token Druid list being tracked in HSguru isn’t the list I shared, its a list trying to make the egg package work (it doesn’t work, because its too slow).
Addiction, self hatred, lack of purpose in life. You know, the usual.
I see myrrex, costume merchant and tortotem as interesting buff, and longneck egg too. The other buff i don’t like as much, but it may work? I don’t know.
I appreciate your efforts, but some people did it with Whizbang decks and it doesn’t mean that these decks are good or belong to the meta
Your opinion about buffs is valid if we talk about homebrew decks. But it is not what people usually expect to see in the patch
The patch was bad, if you evalute the meta in a “fun” sense.
However, if you evaluate it from a balance stand point, the patch didn’t nerf anything, because the meta is “balanced” & diverse.
There are control, aggro, midrange*, scam, and OTK list running around that are viable.
The problem currently with standard isn’t necessarily a “balance” problem, its more of an uninteresting played out archetypes problem. Which, spoiler alert! Won’t change until rotation. Unless they make the next expansion a Starcraft mini-set on steroids, we will get 6 more months of Starships and Starcraft dominating everything.
Note:
*Midrange if you consider Protoss Priest a midrange deck.
Ya, the class/deck diversity may be OK, but even that does not always make for a fun meta. I played some Standard during the last couple of days to help finish the event quests on my main account, and there are a lot of crazy decks hoping to pull off their crazy moves first. Wish I could say that it felt like a skillful meta, but it didn’t.
I played Control DK, which I modified into a hybrid DK deck with pyromancers and the poison spell. The deck played even better with more board wipe capabilities.
Imo, it also won’t change until they get some separation between classes again.
Homogenization has killed diversity and originality.
Yeah who knows. Maybe fyrakk rogue stops winning turn 5. But we all know.
