It seems that you get more better results in arena if you draft more this grave diggers. If you get dunked by them a few turns in a row (as they cost much, it is more likely to have them in your hand by turn 9-10), then it is almost impossible to get back into game. Feels almost like when you could draft DKs in Arena. Or when everyone had one or two Lich Kings.
Arena has entered a rotational mode for a reason.
That reason is that arena should reward people who understand what a good card is and how to play with the tools the world give to you.
When you have it too balanced it stop to have a skill element in deck build and turns into a game of luck.
That said i did like the arena balance they did but i not want it to be balanced like constructed mode and i like the fact that we have cards that snowball a lot to use in arena.
Um, arena is mostly about lackey and discovery luck atm… Unless you’re playing lock but it’s completely broken rn so it’s not relevant (but they too can rely greatly on their lackey generation as well as the trafficker)
It is a strong card in arena for sure. It can be a tempo swing. I find that I have the most fun when I play a game where there are many tempo swings so I don’t mind there being a card like this.
I don’t find it impossible to deal with. After the turn is over the Burly Shovelfist might be a 9/5 or a 9/4. Either I can deal with that minion or I can’t. If I can’t then I might lose but it isn’t solely because of Burly Shovelfist.
It’s a strong card for sure though. You are right about that, OP.
its strong in some situations but also very weak in some other situations.
I am beginning to doubt this card is even worth picking, though i still do so myself.
Its good when its topdeck war where both have 1 minion on board, its kinda bad as soon as opponent has more then 2 minions. It also is very easy to play around, though you can not always afford to play around.
My strongest runs so far have been with aggro Hunter and various Paladins so suffice it to say that my mileage varies greatly from yours.

Not true at all. Actually, when the draft choices are balanced (variety existing) the deck build skill is more prevalent. There are more to arena picks than “good” and “bad” cards. In imbalance, you just pick the broken cards and thats it.
That said, shovelfist is good but pretty balanced. Most times it feels like a +1 mana, slightly stronger gilneas royal guard. Potent, but counterable and not that game turning.
Just had a game at 5/1 with a warlock. First he dropped two in a row abyssals clearing my board (priest with lots of health buffs and still couldn’t hold). And on ~10 and 12 turns two burlies. I had a few dragon potions and holy fire and still couldn’t recover or fully clear. I don’t find such game balanced… Losing to early aggro rush is even less irritating. This is luck. You get 3-4 OP cards and that’s it.
Just wanted to chime in:
Its also a perfectly good standard card.
Ive tossed it in as filler in a few different test builds and it typically won the games it got played in. Its a functionally better charged devilsaur in a world where you can’t play around that battlecry.
I think you’ll see it show up in real decks eventually.
I dont think a cards play line has ever been more accurate. “NEVER skip digday”.
