Brann and Odyn are a major problem

These cards are way to strong, once they are played the game is over.

Odyn allows Warrior to build fully defensive since they can just generate armor and get offense at the same time. You can get way to much attack in a single turn simply by gaining armor. Since they not just get attack but also armor it is impossible to fight back anymore since every card that generates any form of armor also for no aditional cost will give attack. Even if you manage to survive a few turns after Odyn is played they will more likely genereate more armor than you can even remove and gain the same amout of attack most likely pointing at your face. Not to mention that they also have easy acces to windfury turning every game into ohh i burst you from full hp from hand. Lets compare it to Sif who does something similar. She is played and most likely the Mage wins the game. Yet for this to happen the Mage player needs to set up Sif by playing spellschool cards, having sif drawn, having burst drawn and it needs to happen in the same turn as Sif is played giving Mage realisticly only 4 mana to work with casting spells. While in Odyn you play the card. Thats it, it shares the weakness of being drawn but with all the targeted draws its barly even a weakness at all. “But they need to waste turn 8 to play only an 8/8”, its Warrior by turn 8 they have cleared your board 4-6 times already and have enough Armor to play the card, thats not a downside.

Brann wins you the game on the spot, straight up. Double battlecrys for the rest of the game unconditionally is a “you win the game effect”. The only downside to this card is drawing it in a Highlander list. But you dont even need to be Highlander to play it and of you are able to play it turn 6 or even turn 5 with coin you straight up win the game. There is no coming back you either can kill the Warrior before their next turn or it is over. It will limit the designspace for Battlecry cards in neutral and Warrior for the entire next year or which is more likely is that Blizzard has to nerf cards because of Brann after every new Sett cause any Battlecry could break the game. Compare it to Reno who a lot of people aready wanna see nerfed, Reno at least is a one turn thread with its Battlecry. You only have to deal with it once and then its just the Heropower you have to deal with and they have to at the very least invest 2 mana to Heropower where as Brann you dont even need to waste a single thought anymore.

I am not a huge of the recent design of “for the rest of the game” cards, i think every single one of these cards is to strong, specially when it is played on curve. You also cant really nerf or in the reverse buff these cards since there is no healthy middle. Everytime these kinds of cards are playable they turn the game into and enhealthy mess where you ask yourself why you even started Hearthstone when you wanted to have fun.
You also cannot nerf other classcards since it is not really their fault that another card makes them unreasonably strong.
I would simply propose a complete rework for at least Odyn and Brann where you dont just win by playing the cards to win the game but actually playing around the cards.

Like if you insist on having Odyn be a “for the rest of the game” effect let it be something like “For the rest of the game all armor is converted to attack” where at the very least you could still win against the warrior if they dont have the burst ready yet, cause they would actually vournable. Or have Odyn be a one time battlecry convert your Armor into attack where you have to first gain and then second keep the armor to otk. There are so many different ways Odyn could be more healthy for the game than the current way it is.

Brann needs a completly different Battlecry straight up. Look at how strong this card is just with Astalor alone. There was a reason the original Brann was an aura effect. Its to give the opponent a way to interact with it and punish it once it is on the field. I think Highlander Warrior would a good balanced and compedetive deck if it wasn’t built around scamming people with Brann and/or Odyn.

Also me specifically targeting Warrior right now doesnt mean this is the only outliner that needs to be adressed, anyone with eyes (except Blizzard) can see sludge Warlock ruining the game currently and plague DK is also to strong probably cause Brann exist.

I really hope Blizzard does something cause these cards will ruin the entire next year if left unchecked.

I play standard only for fun, try the Naga Priest, you should handle all of them, War, Lock and Dk :nerd_face:

You know they probably won’t. They were stupid enough to rerelease a card like Brann knowing fully well how problematic it was last year. At this point, it’s best to just cut your losses and realize that the game probably won’t be getting any better any time soon with the current jesters in charge of card design.

I think anything Brann and Reno should permanently be retired. Seems like no matter what the card is or when it’s printed, if it features Brann and Reno you can guarantee that it’ll be a broken pos that warps the meta around it. That and I just loathe Reno as a character, and I don’t even understand why. Maybe it’s the voice acting lol.
