Botting? Or just my imagination

I dunno but it seems like that after 40+ turns of this player doing nothing, and not getting kicked for inactivity, they could be botting. I suspect on their turn 21, they left voluntarily because I wasn’t doing anything either. But who knows, maybe they weren’t botting. Maybe it took Blizzard 41 turns to determine that the player had left the match.

What do you think? Botting, or just coincidence?

Now would be a good time to intervene, watch the replay, and send a ticket if applicable, in the essence of hindering botters/hackers in the game.

Of course it may be out of your scope to report and/or investigate potential botting /hacking players, and if so, well you have no grievance from me over it.

But he was the one botting?

How on earth can a game last over 41 moves?

Well when I discover someone who never does anything on their turn, and it only ends in rope burn I change my play style.

I figure they’re most likely throwing or botting to prevent the inactive kick and who knows what else the bot maybe capable of. I let 4-5 rounds go by incase they are trying to bait me into cards, or had bad luck and only high cards (of course they could use their hero power but w.e.).

Then I widdle them down to as low as I can 1-2 health, and never end my turn manually. If they had a DC, was intentionally throwing, long bathroom/food break, got lost in netflix, I’m sure they may comeback, see the state of the game and how I’m playing, and concede the match to get to the next one (had this happen a number of times). I try to get them to die by fatigue (should be an achievement for that XX fatigue kills).

And so we have matches that go 21 rnds (or 42 turns). I’m sure Blizz doesn’t mind server resources tied up in matches like this.

If they are going to prevent the inactive kick but let rope burn end their turns, I’m gonna make it last as long as possible. It’s the only recourse I have as a player to fight back against bots and make them less efficient, productive, and who knows, maybe someone at Blizz will actually believe they should do something about this particular player.

If you think you are “fighting” an afk player by roping your turn, what you are actually doing is helping them. You gain more reward track experience by the game length. With the recent changes, there are no actual afk players. They are simply taking a single/minimum action which counts as taking their turn and letting the timer run out to maximize the gain.

If you were fighting an actual bot, they would be taking actions. Bad bots might have no good game logic, but their purpose would be to avoid attracting attention to themselves.

Blizzard has no method to detect bots anymore. There are virtual machines and containers which shield the isolated operating system running the game. Computer vision programs have replaced the positional autoclickers. The plague deathknight bots that were rampant last year show that straighforward bots can be successful up to a certain level of play.

The only thing blizzard has been successful at, is removing the avenues for actual players to passively farm reward track experience in single player modes where they were bothering no one. The changes have resulted in the shift to other modes.

So in this case, the minimal action would be drawing and discarding a card?

I’ve no doubt that some creative use of VM’s and HS can lead to that. Not familiar with computer vision programs (must be slipping in my old age, but as the name suggests I get the concept.

This I can believe. Double edged sword scenario.

From my understanding, use of the mouse in a game has to be initialized, and is very common to track mouse movement and clicks in a game to control rotation, movement etc. to run trig calcs. It shouldn’t be that hard to to track mouse movements and clicks much like the “I’m not a bot” dialogue click boxes do and run an analysis on it (even after a match) just flag a player for analysis of matches after 3-5 turns in a row of draw, discard hand full, rope burn.

Does the mouse move?
Is the movement the same each time?
Did they click/click drag anything? The same each time?
Did turn end due to rope burn?

Most of these inactive avoiders, the mouse don’t move. pretty simply to detect.

I don’t think blizzard is ever going to run any mouse movement analysis or anything even close.

They commissioned a report to estimate the costs of properly rebuilding the game engine. They declined to do it. Every expansion they add to the spaghetti mess of code, adding new band-aids. The bugs build up, old content breaks, and only the frequently played cards get fixes.

I think they have bots or inside engine build option to give to enemy best combos to make you lose; especial it seen after reach legend or big winrate after that bliz boto auto losing eneblaed and they all ppossible to make you lose;
only very strong deck can help but bliz ml continue lookup how to make you lose and after all they stop made your deck random and shufle it in worst way;
prev help reshufle cards but looks like they fix that option too;

and that stupid option to take you winrate near 50% is most terible too;
all bots and make you losing come from that I think; pls bliz fire out managers and devs who do that they not brain at all;

or at least create option to visible when we play with bots so I will auto lose to them afte rrich legend;
only one way to know is not bot is option in legend ahen you play vs legend man but bad bliz why after good wins I play most of game not against legend mans WTF with your system … ???
