Bombs are messing up draws

I’ve fought against two different “bomb warriors” where if a bomb went off while I was playing a card that had me draw from my deck, it had weird interactions. First I was playing as a Shaman, and played the card Storm Chaser. Storm Chaser drew two bombs, then drew a Fire Elemental. Fire Elemental shouldn’t even be a possible draw from Storm Chaser, so that was really weird. Second, I was playing Mage and played the card Book of Specters. I drew a bomb on my first draw, and my second draw was Counterspell, but I got to keep Counterspell, which shouldn’t be possible.

You’re correct that it shouldn’t be, and in your case it wasn’t. Storm Chaser drew the first bomb with its effect (a spell that costs (5) or more), the first bomb caused you to draw the second bomb, and the second bomb caused you to draw the Fire Elemental. So Fire Elemental was not drawn by Storm Chaser.

For the Book of Specters scenario, also not a bug. Book of Specters drew a bomb and since the bomb is a spell, it should be discarded. However, the bomb has the “Cast When Drawn” key phrase, which causes to automatically be cast when its drawn, and then you draw an extra card when its effect is over. This means the the next (Counterspell) is actually drawn by the bomb’s effect, not Book of Specters, and since Counterspell was not drawn by Book of Specters, it is not discarded.

Thank you for the semantics, but that doesn’t change that this is a buggy interaction, and probably not “working as intended”

What you call semantics is actually the exact rules of the game.
And hence also an explanation of why this is EXACTLY working as intended.
