Blizzard is going way too far

Putting the only meaningful cosmetics in the shop (esports card back?)

I am utterly disgusted. They are the only cosmetics that’s somewhat rare, difficult to have and meaningful and now they are putting those in the shop for freaking gold.

Why is it that we can’t have great cosmetics that are locked behind actual skill or achievements ?

Now what ? When is Golden Celebration coming to the shop ?

I feel like I need more context for this.

They revealed all 94 card backs brought to the shop and along with all pre-orders they put Power Core, which is an esports card back that required you to participate/attend to an approved esports event.

Obviously those with this back were dedicated players who took the game very seriously and now it’s essentially completely worthless instead of being somewhat prestigious alongside the other esports ones.

What do we even have to showcase our dedication now ? Legend card back ? Give me a BREAK.

If you weren’t already using the Golden Celebration cardback for that, you weren’t actually dedicated anyway so why worry about it?

Maybe because Hearthstone is not really a skillful game and the reason Hearthstone is an esport is because of commercial ones?

will the panda/rainbow cardbacks be available too? please, say no :frowning:

I don’t have the card back you refer to nor should I.
I do get your frustration. I am a beta player, and having the Pandaria card
let others know I have played since the beginning.
Now anyone can buy them I suppose.
Team 5 really goofed up with card backs.
They could have sold card backs from jump, and just let the monthly and achievement backs be free.
Now they are killing the cachet of card backs, trying to make up for all the money they missed out on.

i have no clue how esport cards are even acquirable :S…is esport thing in the US only ? or were those only given to grand master championship winner ?

also…i been wanting murggll for so long but could never get it

and college cards back were very unfair too…how do you get alloted into college if you dont need to attend it ?

Yup they are.

@Wardrum I don’t understand your point.

Only grand masters are dedicated players ?

Yup.

All the card backs that were once meaningful are now garbage except Golden Celebration I suppose ? When is this one coming in a special bundle I wonder

Selling a card back that was obtainable only if you attended an e-sports event looks dumb.

Selling old card backs like the Pandaria (I don’t know, I am just reading what someone said), doesn’t look bad.
Some may think “I am cool, I have this rare cardback and people who plays against me will think I am special”, but in reality:

  1. I don’t watch your cardback at all (nor mine)
  2. I can’t recognize a cardback
  3. I have no idea when/how a cardback is acquired

But I also think that a “very special cardback” should exist: like the legend ones (almost everyone knows it) and the GM ones.

Expansion / monthly reward / login reward related cardback aren’t that special.

Adventure ones are the “hard achievement” that maybe the OP is looking for; this category shouldn’t be sold in any way too.

Old events card back: I think they can come back with the same event, so it would make sense.

That’s my point of view about cosmetics

well, the powercore cardback was available from purchasing a 201x blizzcon ticket and the golden celebration won’t be available

it’s extremely bad, they’re litterally spitting on all the players who’ve been here since the beginning

fixed*

I agree.

Don’t sell the special events backs or the freaking esports ones that’s so dumb.

Literally spitting on all those players? Sounds like a logistical nightmare.

Eh, I don’t see why they can’t sell the Blizzcon ones. I certainly would prefer to buy a Blizzcon card back than paying $50 for a PPV ticket to Blizzcon and a bunch of cosmetics for games I don’t play.

So, looking further into this, Power Core had already been given out to everyone who attended Blizzcon 2015. So it doesn’t seem as meaningful, in terms of skill level, as other eSports cards are.

I really appreciate this post.

If it’s any consolation, Power Core is probably the last card back players would want to buy. It’s the ugliest one, and the animation quality looks like it’s from 1999. If I see a player using it, I will assume they are dedicated to collecting ugly card backs. (No offense to Blizzard, the other card backs look great)

Your high legend rank?
