I know marketing must be satisfied with making arena twice as expensive for people who pay money to play, but to the certain asian arena cheaters who migrated to NA en-mass after their server was temporarily closed this extra price is irrelevant. What is relevant is that I and most normal one account players are now paying ultimately double to play my favorite hearthstone game mode.
Now I don’t press the retire button ever. EVER. Yet after 5 wins all I see is no golden cards, default card back, default hero portrait, chinese character names playing the most insane broken decks. (the occurrence is magnified by a fact of atleast 3x if you play at night)
I know you did the botted account patch in the past but clearly that’s been overwritten and forgotten about with this arena update. You also decided to “improve” the arena rewards system in a way that makes someone get free drafts less frequently, which is money out of my pocket and a problem. It’s honestly getting to the point of where I have been contemplating buying prefarmed gold accounts as it is monumentally cheaper than paying the conventional way. If you cant beat them, join them right? Well im not quite at point yet so Im going to hang on a bit longer hoping that this can be solved as I normally I don’t mind contributing to my favorite video game company which has and does bring me joy… at-least to a certain extent. Since the classic 12 match 3 loss arena experience costs twice as much now it better damn well bring a lot of joy. But so far it’s been terrible. BUT! Good news for you I have a excellent solution to the problem.
Here’s the solution. If someone retires a deck at any given point then the next entire arena run will be in that secondary pool of people who like to retire decks. You have that weird early retire system made for not getting exp for quests or something, well just use that so that they cannot just instantly concede (disconnect doesnt count) to bypass retiring and label them as a retired deck. If they want to play for 5-6 turns and then leave thats their business. Add some message of this occuring so that normal players don’t unknowingly screw themselves over. If the arena cheater retired 5 times in a row to get their sweet deck they have wanted to draft, well then the next 5 arena drafts/decks they play will be in that queue. But since they are the extra special kind of gamer it’s almost certain that within those next 5 decks they play they’ll retire a bunch more and will be in their ‘progamer’ retire queue essentially permanently. Where they belong. Problem solved.
Sticky this. Make a memo. Tattoo it on your forearm. Whatever sends the message to the people who actually balance and have a slightest bit of respect for this game format.
