Because January of 2023 is over a month away perhaps they will negotiate some kind of deal before that deadline.
But if it doesn’t happen, will the Chinese censorship changes that were put in place to accommodate that market also leave or be reverted back to freedoms of speech and artwork?

Yea this makes no sense. This is honestly the best case scenario for the playerbase honestly. Yea, it sucks for players in China but if Blizzard/Activision were to be broken up and picked up by other stuidos (private or public), it would be the best thing to happen to Blizzard since WoW launched…

You clearly don’t understand how Chinese state regulators work if you think Microsoft will just be able to relaunch all these Blizzard games in China.
China’s recent crackdown on games, especially foreign games and games with gacha / loot box mechanics, makes it nigh impossible that Blizzard will ever relaunch these games in China.
If it was as simple as you think, Blizzard wouldn’t be shutting these games down in China. Having to pull out of China is millions of $ in lost revenue for Blizzard, they’re not doing this for fun, but because they are forced to.
If you don’t think China is serious about cracking down on gaming…China shut down 14,000 gaming companies in 6 months. None of them could get new licenses to launch games.

I have given more time than some people on this forum have been alive, and I have never considered it a “cost”.
That line of thinking is precisely what is wrong with the World.
That doesn’t mean it isn’t one.
The primary unit of cost is not money, but human life. Each and every one of us is spending ours, one second at a time. It’s not even that there’s no such thing as a free lunch — it’s that eating a hypothetically free lunch isn’t free.
Money just some token system we made up and infused with sanctity so that we could haggle when we trade parts of our lives with each other.

mostly chinese art renders are kept for the chinese cards. They do have different art for a lot of their cards compared to the rest of the world.
so, if they were going to change Jaina “just” for the chinese, they would have done as they have done for every single other chinese card and kept it to that client only.
ultimately, the fact that they changed the art for the na/eu/oceanic clients as well means that they did want that change to be there on those clients too.
