it’s right up there with secret mage, it’s not a ‘’ lOw eLo sTOmPer’’ by any means. res effects have to be reworked period.
if blizzard ever cared about wild as much as standard then we would have a graveyard system by now, a proper solution to raza priest and secret mage.
but nah we have to keep giving these decks more and more support with each expansion dont we ?
wild should read ‘‘we dont care about you experience in this mode so if you care about winning you only have about 3 decks to choose from’, we are too busy with new expansions and thinking of ways to siphon more money by trying to get new players so as old players you barely matter’’.
even before it became a t2 deck big priest was one of those high roll and unenjoyable decks that if you enjoyed to pilot it meant you just wanted to turn your brain off and flick cards on curve or concede when you lowroll. it’s kind of like ramp paladin except not as explosive. you either draw what you need and win or die before turn 5.
either result is boring for most of the players that play it while being frustrating for ALL players who play against it other than those with a personal grudge.
It’s yet another example of refusal to tech. There’s AMAZING cards you can tech in against big priest that are often staples to some decks. Hell back when I ran velen otk before mind blast was hof’d(also before Leeroy was) Leeroy was an actual counter to the combo as he would produce a minion on my board. But hey how dare you ask wild decks to tech something.
Also you bias is ridiculously apparent when you claim they could just turn their minds off while playing big priest. Yeah ok when you’re taking 50+ damage before you can actually use your main pieces in wild you can totally just turn your brain off meanwhile “me go face” is having a field day with even less brain power.
Techs don’t help much vs BP, unless you are Mage or Shaman, or pehaps a Rogue with sap/vanish, a dh with silence (the latter cases are btw not techs that are used solely vs Bp., and lose to highroll/zilliax)
It’s at most tier 2. There are a lot of decks with better winrates.
I actually prey on Big Priest, every now and then my deck refuses to supply the middle finger cards required to seal the deal and I come here to question my life choices.
Don’t think I have ever meet a big priest in wild.
Plenty of other super toxic decks out there.
If someone says that everybody instantly knows the person is not a wild player!!!
To be fair, it isn’t played that much in hl legend.
It’s like saying: there are so many darkglare warlock out there; and most people have only ever met that archetype once or twice, but it is highly prevalent the higher you rank up on the ladder.
(but for god sake, all those BP Priest in casual! Can’t you play something else?)
I think big priest is falling off the radar in lowerish ranks because secret mage is very popular and presumably destroys big priest.
The issue with big priest is the awful experience playing against them offer.
People just need to add Zilliax (for if you don’t get essence), 2 wave of apathy and hysteria, and you will see SM struggle.
But indeed, some people have a value fetish.
I’ve tried out your Big Priest list and like it quite a lot by the way. Thanks again for sharing it!
I agree that Ziliax is good to include, especially vs. Secret Mage. That extra healing is super helpful since vs. Secret Mage I usually find that every point of health matters.
@magicpants Yes, it’s a very strong deck but so are many Wild decks. The aggro decks that beat up on you and kill you by turn 3-5 don’t feel as oppressive because you don’t get to experience an infinite wall of taunts and the games end so fast but most tier lists and data point to Rez Priest being in Tier 2 while some aggro decks are included in Tier 1 from time to time.
Also, by the way, there are plenty of games when you don’t draw Shadow Essence or Shadow Essence bricks and summons two Archmage Vargoths, etc. When people beat up a priest that apparently did nothing, there’s a good chance it was a Big Priest that failed to draw Shadow Essence, but you don’t remember those games as Big Priest games because nothing got summoned and you just won.
Yes, BP is in severe need of a buff in both Standard and Wild. Well I jest about the ‘severe,’ but it could do with not having so many critical weaknesses. The absence of a good Big Priest in Standard for some time is what kept me playing mainly Wild (though I’m happy to say recently it’s seen some success). Well it’s not the only deck or class I play, but it’s one of the most fun.
Maybe my favorite match ever in Standard was a 50 minute scrapfight as a Dragon Soul combo Priest against Deathknight Jaina (this was a long time ago). I lost, but it was a thrilling experience. That kind of thing is the best of Hearthstone, and pushing more of it will inevitably evolve BP.
I hope we get a graveyard you can just shuffle a copy of your deck into and resurrect on turn 2. It would also be nice to summon copies of minions we’ve played, rather than minions that died. You are very smart to suggest a graveyard to empower Big Priest. Thank you.
My “big” priest only runs three resurrection cards: Catrina and 2x Servitude. Otherwise I lean on Zilliax, Claw Machine and Spirit of the Dead. But I’ll consider Leeroy Jenkins as well. Looks like I have 212 recorded games with it. Time for a change. I worry about my Albatross in there though; Reno Priest seems on the decline, and sometimes Albatross is a whiff on Shadow Essence.
Yeah tech. Tech that doesn’t do anything when you Servitude and pick the big thing or Resurrect and hit the big thing or Vargoth + Big Thing anyway despite a heavily polluted pool. Then the tech that exists is slow you have to summon and then have something to kill the pollution spawns so you are 2 for 1 yourself or taking 2+ turns to tech. That’s the problem the general tech available is way less efficient than what you are teching against and if your tech is that much less efficient its not worth running especially when its not even 100%.
And it’s okay.
Hearthstone itself is for everyone but his modes aren’t.
I agree, I stop playing wild format before few months right due to big priest. If you play 7/10 games against this deck it is annoying. Unfortunately, this meta is same, many my games ended early than 6 round, it is very boring.
It’s a very popular deck in low to mid ladder ranks and it’s extremely oppressive against some decks (Hunter for example). I play Secret Hunter on one server and I dread facing Big Priests the most with that deck because one Shadow Essence and it’s basically GG (the deck doesn’t run Kill Commands so there is very little reach).
I don’t know what you mean low to mid ladder, but I many games played againts this deck if I was 1-5 diamond rank.
its literally in the top 10 most played decks in legend you have no clue what you are talking about
you are absolutely delusional
I’m not a fan of greedy decks. Never have been.
Reading comprehension? I said it was popular in low to mid ladder ranks. I didn’t say it wasn’t popular in high ladder. Learn to read.
