Bgs: qb discard works in a weird way

i’ve experienced this being inconsistent as well … although now watching this in a vod instead of being in the moment of it and just confused, it seems like the rule is something like “is there a spell in hand at the start of the turn, if so discard a random spell” … so if you have 0 spells before any “add you your hand” triggers occur, it doesn’t discard those (perhaps to save goldenizer or one of the spellcraft spells from being wrongly discarded), but if you already have a spell in hand, it seems like stuff that was just added is not safe, and so you can still discard a card like goldenizer if you were holding any other spell going into the turn … imo, this needs to be ironed out and made so that either nothing is safe or spells that are being added at the start of the shop turn are immune to the discard … it is just weird and jarring in its current state

I’ve had this happen to me as well. Had a quillboar that discards spells at the beginning of the turn and a trinket that added blood gems to my hand at the beginning of turn. I thought they would work together, but they did not, and I had to keep a spell in my hand in order to get the start of turn discard.

The issue with this and several other interactions is that the game has phases like start of combat, start of turn, end of turn. Before these phases start, a queue of possible actions is created. If something happens during the phase (like adding a spell to hand when there were no spells before), the game ignores it, because it wasn’t in the queue when the queue was created. It can be a little confusing, but it does make sense that it would be programmed this way.
