Best tribe in bg's

Is it just me or does this current bg’s season feel unbalanced?

Pirates, and mechs are stupid strong, but what’s even more OP to me seems to be undead.

Nope, feels pretty good.

I can win with anything other than demons or quilboars, so I’m confortable in pretty much any lobby, but it took some time to understand where the powerful cards are. I think I underestimated some and over estimated some others.

Couple of things I have learned:

1: My beloved Nomi is bait. If you somehow triple into it while already working elementals, you can keep it a turn or two, but it’s a waste of board space considering the ways you can scale units faster.

2: Self damage demons are trash. Flat trash. I had a shop today that had perfect demon switch - soul rewinder, wrath weaver, mind muck, and impulsive trickster in the shop… I took the self damage spell to gain a gold and tiered to three on three instead. It was 100% the correct choice. Avoid damage demons at all costs.

I can see how quillboars should work if you can generate enough of their stat buffing mechanic. To me elementals and demons are trash. Virtually no divine shields when you get pirates that summon 850 of those little pirates and undead are about the same. I can see that on the face of it my minions are bigger but when undead summon 850 minions too…

Beasts I thought were good as sometimes someone stomps me with them, but with beasts you need like 5 different minions all as early as possible or you won’t win.

How are you playing elementals?

Because they’re absolutely bonkers broken with the T6 minion that buffs your elementals based on how many you’ve played. I had a game with Chenvalla today where I didn’t lose for 14 turns and got first walking away as elementals and didn’t even particularly highroll. I didn’t really have success until I changed how I played them, though.

Bountiful bedrock, Meteorite Crasher, little rag to hold you through the middle, then gentle djini, and Ultraviolet Ascendant. You can add any tech minion that helps… end of turn twice, DR twice, etc., depending on what you have. The goal is to get Ascendant and cycle elementals as much as possible. You very quickly get combat buff of really high stats and it snowballs hard.

No it’s just that way too many players are veterans that play cookie cutter builds they know how to build in advance. E.g. currently I’m only ~5k+something and most of the top 4 are usually super optimized boards that can barely change a card. Well… rating isn’t an exact indicator since I play little so it’s also about the hidden match making rating (MMR) but in general there’s no much “newbie” in the BGs currently is all I’m saying.

The game in whole seems to be aging. Constructed too is also almost exclusively super optimized netdecks after being gold rank and the pilots are very rarely horrible.

That’s the problem with this meta, unless you have 500/500 minions you’re not winning. Its just boring now.

Top four is winning, and you don’t need that to top four.

Honestly, there’s a great deal of skill expression in this meta with this minion pool. I won a first place off a showy cyclist today. I did it up with Macaw and Titus and raked. It was fun and not something I planned to do.

I just wish they would cut more minions to make games more consistent.

Beasts are busted. Way too easy to get it rolling and it scales like mad.

At 7k this mode is a chore. You either highroll like crazy or beg for top 4 forcing something like safe t3-4 beast. Its boring, unfun and lame.

Brann is king for 8 out of 10 tribes, that’s a joke itself. Like hit it and get 2x the value or not and lose to someone who got him early.

F this meta.

You remind me that I was thinking today sometimes you lose without any mistake: just because the rest were also good or maybe highrolling, and that implies it’s unfair to drop rating that way because you didn’t even do anything wrong.

But at the same time: isn’t it the same with two good players in constructed being good and one of them highrolling a little more?

At the end of the day it’s the same concept about randomness being a zero sum game given a lot of games.

It seems lame and unfair given very few games but in a total sum it evens out.

Undead and Beetles feel horribly OP. I don’t even like playing them anymore, they are too easy to win with. I had a board with 6 golden eles all over 300/300, non golden over 150/150 in 7th spot and i got beat by a board of undead with not a single golden. They just keep respawning and gaining attack. The only glimmer of hope you have is to kill that double deathrattle card early. If you’re against Greybough’s power, forget that.

To be fair though, I do kill a fair amount of beasts and undead warband attempts early on who failed getting there, so it probably evens out - lol.

Beasts and undead fold to cleave, so keep that in mind.

IF you can cleave multiple drs they don’t have room for all their spawns and they lose.

Elemental cleave can be insane if you’re playing with Ultraviolet Ascendent. You can just stick them on the board for a turn or two with DS and gg.

Elemental is very unfair to play yourself indeed. They are extremely high APM compared to others.

They also have very delicate subtleties about how to sell so they are very hard to think about.

PS the worst though is the Hero choice is still pay2win,

especially in a season without extra effects.

Most are balanced except Demons, which need a lot of help. However, there are some tier 6 minions that can flat out take a game and make sure the rest of the lobby is pushed out. The trick is if you can hit them and how fast you can hit them. If you miss you just get owned.

After the last changes they made it has opened up the meta a bit more. I am still looking forward to the seasonal mechanic to add the twist BG’s needs each season.

Top four isn’t winning, 1st place is winning. 2nd, 3rd and 4th are participating trophies. There is no reason in my eyes to play unless I am going to win and right now you either high roll or you lose . . . btw . . . 2nd place is losing. who cares if you get points for it.

Whatever you say, cowboy. You do you.

That’s how YOU play BG’s but that’s not how the mode is conceived to be played.

That’s why I said “in my eyes” . Thank you for reading.

Anyways, mode is boring now. Have a nice day.

In case you didn’t know it. In the English language that statement is not talking about you but other players. Making sweeping statements like that is just poor form and is a false statement as the designers intended for players to play to finish in Top 4. That’s how Auto battlers work.

Everything else i’ll grant you is for yourself.

It’s not subjective. If their MMR gives them points at 2nd place then it’s not losing. Blizzard literally tells you at that point that the points being positive meant you won.
