Hey, I haven’t played in a while and installed the game again and was offered free decks. Wondering which one is the best or the most fun to play with currently? Thank you.

Yep it’s standard decks.
What do you mean “free”. If you play since the dawn of time and you’re a die-hard you can just craft all cards anyway.
If you mean you don’t want to pay-to-win it if you started an account last month: then any card may be missing.
Probably core death knight. That’s what all the bots are playing, so it must be ok.
This is about the free decks given to new and returning players. They are offered a choice of several pre-made decks.
OP, it’s really gonna depend on your play style and collection. If it were me, I’d probably take the hunter deck, but there’s also an argument to take whichever has the most craftable legendaries just for the dust value
Those are usually mediocre anyway, and not required to “free to play” on a new account. You can probably just make 1 deck relatively fast that is meta; I must exclude those monstrous decks of 100 billion legendaries of course; also I’m not sure if it’s harder this particular patch because they banned getting catch-up packs with gold (do they even give catch-up packs this patch for free?).
I recommend Paladin.
It’s easy to play & can, at the very least, hold it’s own against everything.
There is no “evergreen” deck or class, but Paladin comes close.
Two & a half years ago, I choose Paladin for my free deck & took it to Legend in that first month.
Don’t try to do it now. You will probably be destroyed by the rogues and whatnot by diamond ~5 or even lower.
I mean the regular “pure paladin” the sites list; maybe you have a chance with a monstrous deck filled with leggos; but those are not for free unless the account is ancient with all the cards.
I’m a returnee myself and have done extensive research on value (vs power of tbe deck). I dont go for deck power cos i think they are all insufficient to get you to legend unless you are super pro. Best bet is to take the cards to fit into your collection (ie value).
Rare and common cards mostly will be easily obtained so i considered only legendary and epic cards.
Of these i removed cards which are in minisets (which can be bought for gold) or free (eg ignis)
Also removed epics which you most likely will already have if you were playjng before such as shield slam.
From these residual cards, the one that gives you the most dust is the DK deck. The legendaries are also moderately playable (i looked up on card populatity on HS replay), compared to the rest. Only the warrior deck has more popular legendary but the dust value is not worth it.
So id be choosing the DK deck.
Edit: just realised that Grave strength is from the core set, so the dust value is now less than the pally deck. Have to reconsider between pally and DK now.
Edit again: experts have advised me to open up catch up packs first. Then depending on what i got, i can choose the loaner decks accordingly. That’s also a good advice to maximise the number of cards we get.
Stock Unholy DK is probably the best performing in context. There’s lots of Treant Druids and Unholy DK kinda poops on it (similar gameplan but tons of access to rush)
Treant Druid is very cheap and will probably teach a new player some decent fundamentals about the game as well.
Yeah treant is probably the best idea this patch specifically. Practically every other deck on the top 2000 legend is a spam of legendaries (*maybe a warlock deck excluded but only partly).
Treant is not the best but it’s competing at the top so it probably destroys almost everything below diamond-5.
