Battlegrounds timer is so frustrating!

I’m really enjoying battlegrounds, but the timer just ruins it for me. I’ve played on a fast desktop as well as the newest Ipad, so device isn’t the issue.

Often at endgame I will have 35 seconds or less in the Tavern, and when you’re playing multiple “pick-3” cards or triples with the animations, that much time isn’t close to enough. Often I end up with 7-10 coins left unspent or haphazardly throw minions on to the board at the last second because there is just no time to do everything.

It makes the game stressful. I like some degree of time crunch to make you think on your toes, but as it is now it’s not even close to reasonable.

Meanwhile, on the first few turns, there’s way too much time. I know sometimes at endgame people aren’t doing much and think the timer is too long, but it needs to account for situations where a player is doing multiple pick 3’s. It needs to be a minimum of 60 seconds.

Please fix this Blizzard! I’m glad they are nerfing Lightfang Enforcer as that’s also been very annoying where if you don’t get it or at least one Amalgam you’re going to be very handicapped compared to other players who got lucky enough to get these cards.

As you can see, this is my first and only post on here, so I’m not one to get on the forums and complain unless something is game-breaking for me.

The timer ensures that ALL players finish each round at roughly the same time. Without the fixed timer players who managed to finish fast could have huge wait times while they wait for their next opponent who ended up using the entirety of theirs.

The timer as it stands is probably the best situation over all that we are going to get.

I’m not saying there should be no timer, I’m saying they need to make it longer in mid and end game and shorter on the first two rounds especially. You need a minimum of 60 seconds at end game. You should not be punished because your combat took longer to play out.

They should also add an extended tutorial practice mode for players to get the hang of things by playing bots (like with other autochess games) so the short timer in the first few rounds is not hindering for them. They already have a forced tutorial, they just need to make it available to replay.

wth, more like the closest to the worst implementation. My copy pasta everytime a timer issues get posted (which is a lot!)

Timer Issues

  1. The Timer in each round is seemingly random and INCONSISTENT. Apparently, Blizzard in its wisdom thinks its a wise idea to combine Combat and Recruit into one timer together so if your Combat takes a long time, you have less time for Recruit. This is actually just stupid.

  2. Some rounds such as the early rounds or the super late rounds 1v1, the Timer is TOO LONG and everyone has to wait when everyone is already finished.

  3. Some rounds when Combat takes too long, the timer is actually TOO SHORT - no time left for Recruit. This is unfair to count Combat as part of the timer. Especially when the timer is not even displayed during Combat, and only shown during Recruit.

Proposed Solutions

  1. Combat to NOT count as part of timer. Everyone will wait for combat of all players to finish before their Recruit start. This will give everyone the same and consistent amount of time during Recruit.

  2. Shorten the timers for Recruit. Make the timer for the 1st 2 rounds to be 20 seconds. Timer for rest of game is 40 seconds. This is about 50% of the current timer (that included combat). This will save time and also make the timer consistent.

_And this Key solution:

  1. Add a Time Bank of 60 seconds to each player for the entire duration of the match. This will compensate for the shorten time of each rounds. This solution makes it Fair for the entire match yet provides flexibility for the player.
(The Time Bank is activated only when user click Time Bank button and the Recruit Timer has ran out. The Time Bank then counts down from 60 seconds. Player can stop the Time Bank to end the round and Save the remaining time in the Time Bank for future rounds.)

(Note that the ready button others proposed will actually make the game much longer because the default action is no action. At least someone in the group of 8 will not be pressing the ready button.)

Better to punish person A with a wait than to punish person B with less time in the shop. The former is quality of life, the latter actually impacts the game.

Yeah - when the timer runs out, and I don’t even have time to get all of my minions onto the battlefield, because the triple animation takes all the time, then the timer’s definitely broken and needs a fix. I’ve lost games purely due to the timer.

The timer situation now is not ok and I hope blizzard does not settle for this being the best situation that we can get. It can be better and it should be better, probably by doing something about the animations. At least give players the option to play with a low graphics setting.
It is ok now in the midgame but at final fight its still very often 30 seconds or less, which is way to short with all the animations taking place in the tavern.
Like if you could click and the action happens instantly then it would be fine, but that’s not the case as there is animation time for every single action.

I like the idea of pausing the recruit phase until all combats are completed. Seems like the most fair solution to me.
