Battlegrounds players need to understand

Getting top 4 is a WIN.
Getting top 3 is a nice WIN.
Top 2 is a BIG WIN.
1st is jackpot.

Esp. if you’re F2P.

Just don’t play bad heroes like Sindragosa under any circumstances.

I would like to add something to your list:

  • If this game doesn’t put food on your table, then please don’t take it seriously and don’t get upset when you lose. Losing is part of the game.

  • You can still buy runestones even if you constantly lose and Blizzard won’t say “no, we won’t take your money because you can’t win in BGs.”

So many times I just aim for 4th or 3rd at best because I know 1st isn’t happening. A good mid range set up with menagerie almost always does the trick, especially with that undead that gives your minions of each type attack on avenge.

You can get 1st with menagerie, but it requires some specific heroes (i.e. Gallywix, Sire, Edwin w/ beasts, etc).

The beauty with menagerie tokens is how hard it can punish greedy undead players. Now, the flipside of the coin is that you take out of the competition for others, and they may end up taking you out in the end, themselves.

I love Magmaloc. One of my favorite new additions. Sounds weird, but I actually think the game’s fairly balanced right now, even with undead being as strong as they are.

If you need to add this, then you are more or less admitting this game is P2W.

Depends on your skill level.

Battlegrounds is P2W.

I dont know. Below say 9k you can play any hero really.

Unfortunately If an undead player hits an average build you WILL lose regardless of your build though. If they hit the stone cold nuts they don’t even have to try to win. After tomorrow and the BG patch i am really hoping we can get back to Menagerie builds being the best again.

This will kill any and all build creativity.

Menagerie is already the best deck comp for end game though. Has been for several months. The poison windfury divine shield mess is always strong. The problem is that now undead is equally powerful leaving everything else in the garbage.

  1. I didn’t play Battlegrounds for the past ‘several months’.
  2. I am aware it is the other best comp on par.
  3. Other comps need tools that give them a similar footing, they scale either too slow or too inconsistently compared to the former two.

This is the biggie. How they do this without just making everything busted will be the real puzzle.

Mechs and Beasts you can do pretty good with. The others really struggle.

My conclusion is that the game is extremely “Deathrattle” friendly. Deathrattle is huge as it allows for better trades. You only get 7 minions, so having minions with deathrattle that summon more minions is the way to go. If you have 7 minions with no deathrattle, you are majorly susceptible to swiping and poison effects.

It’s no coincidence imo that the deathrattle stuff is the best performing

used to be the best performing.

Now the ability to spawn endless reborn minions with all their buffs is the broken equivalent.

The problem with undead is the reborn with stats.

Until the patch hits Undead is the best outside of very specific heroes.

How is a straight minion type build “Creative”?

It has many different options,so you can be somewhat creative with it. It forces you to think.
It is much less straight forward then a build like magmaloc or apm pirates which is rather simplistic to put it mildly.

Can someone explain how does menagerie build work? I have yet to see one

Looks something like:
Leeroy Jenkins
Foe Reaper 4000
Mantid Queen
Colossus of the Sun
Tea Master Theotar
Poison Murloc
Mega-Windfury Elemental

Basically, you give your Mantid Queens Divine Shield, Taunt and Poison…keep buffing them, and have 1 shot 1 kill stuff like Leeroy/Elemental/Foe Reaper

It’s very flexible…so if you can’t find Foe Reaper, you get Hydra. If Elementals aren’t in game, you get Bonker, etc etc.

I wish I understood anything you said as far as whatever those minions are. lol. The only ones that i could recognize as a minion was Leeroy, poison murloc, and megawindfury elemental. lol. I wish I could say Ive ever even gotten a triple on that elemental but it always eludes me. always. I will sit at 2 of those for about 20 turns refreshing. RNGeesus does not love me. He is not forgiving of any sins or anything at all it seems.

The others I dont recognize by name and/or never seen/heard of yet.

Menagerie build would be put simply, multiple different tribes that benefit each other in different ways. Im a fan of
-the quilboar that gives a blood gem when a taunt minion dies
-the reborn taunt undead
-super high tier demon that spawns 3 1/3 taunt minions
-divine shield taunt added to the amalgam (with hopefully poison added to it too)
-anything else that’s helpful like the boar that makes blood gems count as 2
-super high tier neutral guy that buffs all minion types when you play a neutral minion
-empty slot to be used as a slot to play minions and sell off every turn until the last minion that can be played

But dont take my word for it, Ive only been able to climb to 3000 this season and it seems that floor is my ceiling because Im finishing 8th a lot more frequently.

There’s no real hard and fast rule to Menagerie. It’s basically taking what you get and building a synergy around it and then in the end game(final 4) you tailor it with counter minions to each build you face.
