Battlegrounds is Solid Now - But in what way?

The Battlegrounds meta is very solid and fair now.

I just can’t figure out if it is a highroll meta or not.

Its very highrolly yes.

I don’t care since I don’t try to rank in it, but it’s obviously not balanced. E.g. I can become 1st with Boars half of the time if my RNG isn’t bad; Even the Murlocs aren’t as good because their health is often extremely low and you have to hope to get a lot of poison murlocks relatively early; if you become first with something like Pirates you probably had multiple high rolls because they barely have any synergy that scales easily.

I’m not entirely sure that the RNG is as heavy a factor.

The most game winning card seems to be the 1/1 that discovers when sold. Keep it 2 turns and get a Tier 2 or Tier 3 or Tier 4 “key minion” via discover.

I guess what I am saying is it does provide some ways to take some agency over what you have.

It’s fairly highroll dependant imo.
Every hero now has access to more economy than ever before, and you will often have 2 or more players highrolling if they get good economy early on.

You are correct, utilization of the economy to your advantage is the key to success in the current meta.

The players who are approaching the game without really accounting for what spells can do for them are losing much more than they are used to.

Lubber. If you see elementals and Demons you best be ready for someone shooting for the Tier 2 build. It’s almost guaranteed Lubber is changed to Tier 3 in an update. I’ve done this at least a dozen times now and it’s pretty disgusting. If you get the Nalaa off the scout it’s basically game over for the lobby.

That’s the on where you get the lubber, rewind demon and then stay on tier 2 to keep the spell pool small and just spam the damaging gold spells? Do you really need the rewind demon?

If the lobby doesn’t have Beasts nor Undead, then sure, it’s close to “fair”, but it is very high roll as well.

Bah Humbug. Havent gotten higher than 7th place is over 12… must be 15 matches now…

Demons have only been in tavern once that entire time… and even if pirates are in, lubber or whatever its called isnt findable til about turn 7+ I dont experience the same lobbies yall do…

Naga is still too weak.
Non-tribe is also not playable.
Pirate also lacks stats and gold cannot buy health buff.

Pirates are top tier, but require specific set up and getting Tethys for economy. You don’t even need Brann!

It’s highroll or die now. There is no way to come from behind anymore, if you lose the a couple of rounds than you’re pretty much dead.

Would you be able to screenshot or write down your first several shops in your next game so that the rest of us can walk through your logic on early turns?

I suspect there are players here that could help you make better choices or help you see things you might be missing in your matches.

I thought someone offered to spectate your games the other day, and it might be really good to get some feedback.

I would guess you are rollling too much, not using spells right, and maybe not getting some of the new synergies that have arisen in the recent patches.

I agree Undead break the game early and Beast break the game late.

I had golden mama bear, golden ostraich or whatever does deathrattles at start combat and golden graywolf tier 6 with reborn and double deathrattles – and got blown out by opponents beast board.

It somehow too easy to get golden broken minions, they are like free candy in the late game somehow.

You cannot do it without the Tier 2 Demon. Because you are essentially pulling Hasty Excavations for free as they roll up for more coins each turn. Then you just keep buying Leaf through the Pages to keep free rolling for more of them and feed the coin pool as well as getting Careful investment and strike oils to get your coin pool big quickly.

Bejeweled Duelist is a main minion to grab asap as well to keep the free rolling and building its health pool. You can give the Bejeweled an attack boost eveyr so often but really you use the patient scouts for tier 5 and 6 search to hit the Nalaa and Fungus. I’ve also done the build with Dragons ands Murlocs. Dragons can be very dependent on the pool but it’s probably the easiest.

I feel like there is a lot of “you are missing one card? You lose. You found it? you win.” And there are several key cards for different builds, but mainly deathrattle beasts/undeads, which becomes unbeatable once you get the final build.

I had 2 of these games yesterday, where I went 6-7 rounds on T5/T6 each game without meeting single baron. I was in a pub playing with my friend and I was really going crazy and he was just laughing.

I dont encounter anything tier 5 in my tribe let alone t6… and ffs i cannot make goldens anymore…
