I noticed one thing in this mode. If you pay attention to the turn button, during the battle-phase there is the word “Combat”, which is logical. But sometimes, during the battle-phase, instead of this inscription, you can see the word “Recruit” there, which in fact means that one of the players in the given battle lost and dropped out of the match. That is, the game calculates all the moves at the very beginning of the match and only shows an animation of their sequence. So, the battle results are predetermined in advance?
During the last match, if you try to emote, but can’t, it means you lost. If you can, you survived.
Obviously, Blizzard’s server can calculate millions of calculations per second. So the result is decided the moment your timer end. All the animations later just delay the inevitable result.
Yes if it ever says recruit during the combat phase it means you either won the game or died. It’s kind of dumb since it spoils it, I hope they fix it.
I don’t think it lets you emote if you win the final game in the entire Battleground, so it’s not necessarily that you lost, but yes, it must calculate the outcome immediately and then just plod through the animations… The dreaded animations. I don’t think they’re particularly slow, but nothing is more frustrating than waiting for a Brann (or the nightmare, a triple Brann) to finish boosting your board while that dumb uneven timer ticks down in the later rounds. I don’t know why people are adamant against adding time… Do I need it every game?? NO! I don’t even need it in 75% of the games… but at least once every four games, I run out of time in one, two, three turns… And it sucks.
You really get that bored waiting the 20-30 seconds for the next round to start? At the absolute worst, you wait 60 seconds. And anytime someone asks for more time, there’s more outcry about there being TOO much time. It isn’t even about thinking, it’s about literally not having enough time to make optimal plays if you start immediately. Especially with a Rafaam and a Brann… You’re clearing space, buying a triple, waiting for the animation, selling off, cycling once or twice, getting maybe another triple, and you ultimately end up wasting 5…6…7. mana and making a turn that isn’t nearly optimal because they can’t give you an even 2 minutes for the final 2-4 rounds? People are THAT ADHD that they can’t stand to tab out or check their phone for a GD min so we can in turn have balanced turns.
You got the dead guy with no board and had to wait 2 minutes… Poor you… Meanwhile I’m playing the guy with 6 deathrattles and getting 40 seconds to use 10 mana. I get 40 seconds to use 3 mana… I only get 40 for 10 mana?
Yep if you just quit the game at combat phrase and relog in, you immediately skip all animation and go into recruit phrase (if you didnt die)
It’s already predetermined, I tested it.
Step 1: Play on PC
Step 2: Wait till there’s like 5-10 seconds remaining to the recruit phase.
Step 3: Log into the same account but from your cellphone. (It usually takes like 5-10 seconds to log in)
Step 4: You are back at the recruit phase and skipped all the battle animation.
Ok, here’s how it happened to me. I was playing on Pc and had an urgent need to use the restroom and had to switch to my phone…
Too much details?
Ok… But I tried it a few times and it’s predetermined
I’ve noticed several times now that my current opponent finishes the battle before me and starts doing things in the tavern (upgrades, level up etc) while the battle is still playing out for me for like another 10 seconds. I’m playing on a comp so it’s not like I’m lagging or anything so idk what’s up.
I think that perhaps people are deliberately disconnecting to skip all the animations since anytime I accidentally disconnect I end up back in the tavern.
Seems really lame.
its really alot effort to keep doing that lol. But yea i can see if people who really want to skip animation. Meanwhile, i have the need to see how i win and how i lose just for my own satisfaction.
Problem is when I don’t get enough time to do all my tavern stuff because I was stuck in battle longer than my opponent. It’s bad enough that other people might get more time because they had shorter battles, but when your current opponent also gets more time that’s just BS.
I don’t know why they can’t just freeze the tavern until everyone finishes animations then start the timer. I assume they were going for a smoother gameplay experience even if it’s “unfair” to slower machines
they could add a “skip” button to battle mode so you can choose to skip seeing the fight and go to the tavern whenever you decide you saw what you need to see
yea this will actually make it fairer since people with slower machines have an option now to skip it instead of starting with 20 seconds on timer.
Skip button seems fair enough
as soon as battle is started the game knows who will win - it’s already done the calculations and simply needs to do the animations.
Card trackers will show you this personally I like the suspense.
you can see it when you get dc’d, or you can even dc on purpose, you get back in 1s after the start of the combat phase and you’re at the next recruit phase
I can 100% confirm that the game calculations happen as instantaneously as possible. It probably only takes about 1/2 a second for the game to quickly calculate who won and how much damage has been done.
My son and I play together. He plays on his phone and I play on my PC. When a fight happens, he can hover over a character and see what their health is as soon as the fight starts to see if they lost or won. He can tell me I won or lost instantaneously.
Also, at the end of the game when there are 2 players left, if you can emote during combat that means that neither player has died. If you can’t emote, it means the game is over and 1 of you died.
