Battlegrounds: Hawkstrider

The minion that triggers all of your deathrattles at the start of combat should be a 6 or 7 star. It’s way way way way waaaaaaay too powerful to be a 5 star.

I made a pretty sweet hybrid build using trip Strider/Trip Baron/x2 Motley Phalanx (One was a triple)/x1 Kalecgos/x1 Warpwing and a flex slot to drop BCs and other utility if needed.

I think the anomaly was “Start on tier 4. Gain 10 gold for your first turn only.” I can’t remember the hero. I took a pic of it, tho, as it was a pretty fun build.

And you’re correct. It’s a very strong card. It’s a parrot that doesn’t need to attack. Some heroes can make Parrot arguably better than strider, but overall, I’d say Strider wins.

Plz no step on chicken

Its better then a parrot which does not need attack. Its like a barron for all your minions none of which has to attack.

Its a great card,i love it personally.
Maybe it could be a t6 and still be pretty good. But for now i dont mind it beeing a 5.

Its pretty op but at least its a card you can build around with many other cards.

It does give a bit of consistency in a weird way. Like op cards that are good in combination with many other cards tend to do.

It makes all sorts of bull even more bull, imo.

When you see some of the blood gems coming out of bird + Rylak + Baron/Brann rolling into endgame with bristlebach dropping avenge 1 triple digit stats it’s pretty much wtf.

I’m just not down for how much they amped the power because it is such a penalty and slog and disincentivizing to miss even a little. I don’t mind losing, but if 1/4 games you highroll and every other game leaves a bad taste because you didn’t highroll, the game sucks.

Here’s an example.

I think this is the biggest bloodgem I have ever gotten. Unfortunately I only got Prickly Piper on the last few turns, but no murlocs or undead so didn’t really matter. : r/BobsTavern (reddit.com)

I look at the power creep on the board is a window into why I don’t like the direction the mode has gone. That’s insane.

It’s really just another scam auto win card. Have a fecal board? Ohh look a strider, now I’ll just buy a couple of beasts and a phalanx and I’ll start scamming!

Beasts are scam now? I thought scam was poison.

Mostly, yes. Scam is poison, venom, Leroy, bramble witch, murghoul and stuff like that. I consider scam to be other things though, like getting another random banana slammer from your sly raptor, or really good summons from a Ghastcoiler… you get the picture. Hawk strider in conjunction with goldrinn makes current beast builds even more scammy. Just my opinion. I don’t like where beasts are currently. It’s too much summon a random thing that’s 10x the size it should be and it may or may not be really good or really bad.

I understand you but I don’t really agree. To me “scam” is a technical terms that refers to units with venomous, poisonous and Leeroy. The only real dedicated scam build is Murlocs and the challenge there is getting as many “lives” as possible, via hitting your Bassgills with Belcher while holding a couple Leeroys.

The correct technical term for Wolf + Chicken + Horse + Monkey + Baron is “Exodia.” It’s still not a standard scaling comp (which makes it need taunts and makes it weak to Zap) but it’s not scam. A scam unit is generally good at scamming all on its lonesome. An Exodia unit is weak numbers on its own then you get one more and it doubles.

But what you’re talking about isn’t really scam nor Exodia. It’s just RNG. Ghastcoiler is the grand high king of having a crap build that went nowhere but I’m on Tier 6 with only 2-4 gold left this turn so let’s roll the dice and see if I can finish better than 5th.

That makes sense. I’m probably speaking from a point of feelings and not factual. So, you’re right, those units aren’t really scam, they just feel like it at times!

Beasts and murloc are both off the chain right now. I mean, in nearly every case even with up and running kalecgos or apm pirates, moving to murky/murkeye combo is the better play because it’s that strong endgame.

But beast scam is a real thing right now and there are almost no ways to beat it beyond legit out statting it, and that sucks because they get online faster.

It’s a strong card and certainly could be a 6 star card in terms of potential power, but seeing it at 5 rarely seems broken to me. Some anomalies/minion combinations/heroes will certainly make it better, but I think it’s fine at 5 currently.

Edit* Rating could certainly play a role too. In lower rating groups its power might be easier to abuse than developing a proper scaling composition. Making it seem stronger than it is. I will admit that I was initially shocked that it was only a 5 star card. It doesn’t really take a lot more to have an okay board and win some rounds with it.

Double edit** Labeled it with the wrong amount of stars

It’s powering some of the most hellacious scams the mode has ever seen, though. It procs wolf, rylack, demon health, handbuff, shields, undead ap, elemental stats, etc., etc. all at once start of combat and stacks with baron.

The card is functionally an entire extra turn when played properly.

It’s nearly impossible to discount that impact on the end game.

I can’t argue against that. I just don’t think it’s out of line with what else is currently possible. I don’t play at a high rating though, so I am almost certainly not seeing it played to its fullest potential.

I am not playing at any lofty bracket right now, but I see it breaking things frequently.

Everything from spreading early venom around to the 1k health blood gems in the link I shared earlier. That doesn’t happen without the bird compounding your gains by an additional turn’s worth of stats.

So you will see someone use it with rylack, barnstormer, baron, and felemental to buff the tavern just out of control and then when they approach the damage cap they roll into four digit stat elementals or eat them with demons for insanity.

I respect the build, but the power is just dumb.

How to say you’re below 6000 without saying you’re below 6000
