Balance trinkets in BG or make this game less RNG somehow

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been enjoying Battlegrounds since its release and still play it passionately, maintaining around an 8k rating every season. I fully understand that BG is designed to be RNG-based, but the level of RNG dependency has become increasingly excessive.

Like every other Auto Chess game, once you commit to a specific build, there are certain core cards you must get—usually scattered across Tavern Tiers 5 and 6. This already introduces a significant RNG element, and it’s even more punishing in Hearthstone BG, where it’s harder to pivot to other builds due to the permanent stat increases on cards.

Now, with the addition of poorly balanced trinkets, pivoting has become nearly impossible. You have to spend coins on trinkets, which in turn reduces your chances of finding those essential core cards. Even further, this forces you to stick with whatever build marginally benefits from the trinket you’ve bought. Regardless of how well you manage your early game and Tavern leveling, if you aren’t lucky enough to find the right core cards that synergize with your trinket, you’re likely to lose.

I’m not complaining about the role of luck in these games. RNG is part of the genre. What I’m saying is that there should be a wider margin for player skill and in-game decision-making to influence the outcome. Right now, that margin feels too narrow.

You could also learn to play better, but I guess it is easier to complain.

An 8k rating is roughly top ~3%, and based on your previous comments, it seems you’ve barely even played BG this season. Maybe try speaking after you actually know what you’re talking about, though I guess it’s easier to mindlessly tell others to just play better.

Why is it so hard for people to believe that maybe they are doing something wrong?

Being in the top 3% because you are 8K doesn’t make you somehow a highly skilled player. When you are playing 10-11K+ players with 8K you are basically a 0 rating to the rest of us.

It’s like saying in constructed. I’m 15K legend but i am in the top 3% of HS players. That’s nice but if you get faced against top 100 players they will eat you alive. Fortunately there’s a large pool of players to pull from in constructed. In BG’s the pool to pull from at high rating is far less and 8K’s get filled in all the time as chum for the big fish.

IE: at 8K you still have a LOT more to learn about BG’s that higher rating players already know and will beat you with.

I know I have a ton of things to learn to get to that next level, but I know that calling my losses luck will not get me there.

You’re claiming to have a 15k rating but I don’t see your Battletag anywhere on the leaderboard. Are you even aware that the current #1 in BG has a 15,331 rating? How do you have 15k rating but placed in the top 3% percentile? I really don’t understand why people lie about things that can be so easily checked.

Where did i say i have a 15K rating? Who said i play on the Americas server? Anyone that has been on this forum for a while knows i don’t play on the America server. Yes you can easily check it and i will tell you right now. You won’t find me on the Americas servers ANYWHERE. It’s easier to just admit you don’t have a clue how to play BG’s but instead you attack everyone that doesn’t agree with you. That’s very childish.

FYI: if you knew anything about BG’s. You would know that the #1 BG player is Jeef who is the best BG player in the world among every server that exists.

Keep deflecting though.

READ what i typed closer. I didn’t say i had a 15K constructed rating. I said “It’s like saying i have a 15K constructed rating”.

It’s hard to tell on these forums at times. Especially when i know there are people that actually want some advice.

I misread and thought you said 15K because I was reading in a rush. Sorry about that. Anyways, unlike you, I don’t lurk on the forum 24/7, so I don’t know (and honestly don’t care) which server you play on. So then, what’s your rating anyway? Are you even playing Battlegrounds this season, or are you just talking out of nowhere?

Back when I wrote my post, according to HSReplay, a rating above 7000 was considered top 3%, and 8000 was close to top 1%. If you’re saying I know absolutely nothing about BGs at that rating, then according to your logic, 99% of the player base (probably including you) are all clueless idiots?

And yeah, I know JeefHS is good and ranks #1 frequently, but what does that have to do with you? Are you claiming to be him or something? What’s your point bringing him in?

Does my post look like I’m asking for advice? Especially from someone like you who sits in this forum talking all day instead of actually playing the game? If I wanted advice, I’d go to a ranked streamer on Twitch and donate while asking for help on how to climb out of the 8000 range, not here where people spout nonsense like “at 8K you still have a LOT more to learn about BG’s that higher rating players already know and will beat you with,” without even realizing that there were barely 30 players above 10K rating back then.

If you actually read my post, you’d see that I play Battlegrounds consistently every season with some passion. I was asking what other ‘consistently active BG players’ thought about how the newly added trinket system this season increased the role of RNG too much — whether they agree or disagree, and why. I highly doubt that you are one of these passionate BG players, considering your 8k posts on this forum (especially with a hidden profile, as if you’re embrassed of your posts). You seem to be more dedicated to this forum and passionate about posts rather than the actual game, so just walk away, and give your worthless advice to your kid or something. Come back start talking after hitting 8k ELO at least.
