No comment. It’s literally impossible to comment on this and not get infuriated.

I mean… come on.

How out of touch do you have to be?

No they’re learning from experience
They nerfed Warrior and Warrior got stronger
They nerfed Warrior again and Warrior got stronger again
So this time they’re NOT nerfing Warrior, to make Warrior weaker

Wow they are nerfing my boy pain lock. Kind of don’t really see why, it’s not an op deck by any stretch.

They should be nerfing way more Paladin, that class is toxic AF. If they nerf pain lock then paladin will absolutely dominate with 3 to 4 decks all being top decks in the game. Paladin will be t0 class with all the t1 decks in the game, then we will have everyone else in t2 and t3.

Hint: showdown is not the only problematic card in Paladin

It is xD But nevermind that for now

It’s not problematic at all

How do you even nerf that card? It’s fair and square, both players get 3x 3/3, you only play for the privilege of attacking first. OTHER cards are problematic.

I’d rather see Sea Giant nerfed than both Showdown or Molten Giant.

With this nerf, you’re:

a) not hitting truly problematic cards in paladin decks (Beam, Sea Giant, even Zilliax)
b) making Molten Giant unplayable to any other deck, class or archetype except pain warlock (if even)
c) what in the world am I missing with Drifter nerf?

I haven’t seen a single Zarimi Priest this whole month, and if I have, it died too fast for me to realize it’s Zarimi Priest.

I really didn’t see this coming.

Did I suddenly become so bad or did they become even worse at what we do?

P.S. Warlock nerf should have been Infernal! but I guess it’s too early to nerf that card. They’re still expecting to sell more minisets!

im surprised by the priest nerf unless they are worried a priest deck will pop up if those 2 get nerfed

Priest cant catch a break, even if the deck is hardly played it gets hit regardless…

that logic is asinine …infernal is a RARE

not only we can get the mini set for 2000 gold we can get 2 infernals for just 200 dust…

Yeah, but how do you come up with the idea to nerf a Molten Giant?

It’s a neutral card, which is never played, because no class wants to ever hit 10 hp to play it. So if anything, it should either get buffed, or just made a Warlock class card -.-

I know it’s too early to nerf INFERNAL!, that much is clear. There’s money to be earned by leaving that broken.

But SURELY you could have found a better target for nerf, one which would only hit painlock and not any other deck which comes to the idea of playing that completely bad card?

What is this, like the 10th time molten giant will be changed/nerfed/adjusted? Maybe the problem isn’t Molten giant…

Right, it’s Prismatic Beam that’s busted, but it’s busted because Showdown activates it by giving your opponent minions that will die anyway. So they’re going to fix the problem by nerfing Showdown so that it won’t give your opponent minions anymore.

A mana-cost increase would actually be a buff to Holy Wrath Paladin in Wild.

I don’t know about wild, nor do I care, standard is where the money is

This nerf can’t possibly be logical or justified rationally

Except if you accept as rational “we were under pressure, had to hit something, and we heard Painlock is all about giants, so let’s nerf the giants!”

Which to me, isn’t rational at all

Honestly it’s exactly the correct choice. Highest drawn and Mulligan winrate card in the deck at D4-1.

It’s supposed to be that way when the whole deck revolves around it xD

But other cards enable it get dropped too soon

When they nerfed gaslight rogue, did they nerf the giants or the card enabling them getting dropped too soon?

You can’t have such a narrow focus. This isn’t just nerfing one deck, it’s deleting a card from existence entirely

When I say that Molten Giant is the right target, I mean for a reasonable nerf. For example, if I was in charge I’d increase the cost of Molten Giant to 21. Just +1 cost, but it does mean that you can’t instantly hit 10 health by Infernal + Blood Treant and drop double Giant for 0.

What you’re worried about, and honestly I am too, is that Blizzard will nerf the thing to 25 cost and just utterly kill the deck. The last time they nerfed Molten Giant they did exactly that, and that was idiotic.

List of more acceptable “nerfs” (because they’re only nerfs in the context of painlock, but buffs in other decks):

  1. Mass production: self-inflict 2, instead of 3 dmg - the card has enough of a downside in replicating itself like a virus and swallowing the rest of your deck surely, but slowly. + it’s a new card, so buffing it for other decks might increase sales for your miniset - and we KNOW that’s your goal, since you refused to nerf INFERNAL!
  2. INFERNAL! Is just broken, but it’s getting hit later, when the miniset stops selling
  3. 3 mana 5/7 which attacks itself can cost 4 mana or be 3 mana 4/8 or sth - this coupled with mass production would slow down the giants dropping for a turn

I could go on, but I don’t want to, because this is a clear case of a narrow focus based on lack of knowledge about the deck mechanics/blindly following stats without thinking/pushing the sales of new cards/acting quickly under pressure just to satisfy loud individuals/proving once more how bad they are at their job.

I see the logic in your thinking, but it’s still not optimal for the game health.

Where do I begin?

You’re making something cost 21. What else costs a random number such as this? Normally higher cost cards are 10, 15, 20…not 21.

You’re nerfing a card which only sees play in this deck and it’s been like this for years. Why not nerf something else? why not BUFF the molten so it could see play in other classes?

It’s a neutral epic card. It should not suffer because they’re too lazy to sit down and brainstorm the optimal decision using both stats and experience.
