I came back and reached Legend again with home made priest deck F2P incomplete cards. Are the people now so bad? or what is it?
Matchmaking is based on mmr only now. You were probably playing either blizzard bots or very new players for most of the run. Also it’s the end of the month so the most of the better players are already in legend.

The inn keeper would have been a more difficult opponent than the players you were matched up against after being gone that long.

I came back last month after 5 years hiatus, I made it to legend as well but back then the meta was different people played 40 cards in a deck using prince Renathal, hence due to draw issues on the opponent side I was able to climb easily using loaner druid deck. I made it to legend again this month early with spell damage druid otk, but they nerfed one of the keycard to be at least t2 viable now.
Renathal might be a bit better than prince malchezaar,because you could manipulate the odds of a draw by putting tutor, anyway it was easy climb when you know some people are just clueless to put renathal in a singleton deck. Idk maybe some of them were Bots.
I would imagine having been gone that long it was a huge shock to see just how much insane card draw is in the game now for everyone.
All veteran player left for better and better thing and all left f2p just keep it up for awhile till fall more into hole.
Not really though last time I played was saviour of uldum even back then the decks that I played tend to be heavier on card draw, I mainly play combo decks though. Probably what shocked me is the amount of tutor that some classes have access to is troublesome.
I recently coached a brand new player who only started playing Hearthstone less than 2 months ago. They were able to hit legend on their own even before my help with the worst deck I’ve ever seen and 0 knowledge about the game.
It’s mostly bots with new player mmr and the skill level of opponents even up to diamond 1 is extremely low anyways. There’s a smaller difference between bottom of Legend and Bronze 10 than the difference between top 2k and top 100.

I used to reach legend everytime, just it was a bit harder than what I faced now.
Probably you are right, i must have faced low opponent who knows.
They took that back recently. They admitted they still try to not match legend rank with pre-legend rank. I guess they match only dumpster legend with some high MMRs in pre-legend which takes us back to what was already the status quo.
Its all MMR based for pairings. So your MMR decayed down to a restart. You were facing new players most likely. You will move up by next month most likely.
An enormous amount of skill has been removed from the game sadly. Power creep has created worse players.
