Your opponent drew and played a Dirty Rat, which triggered the Azerite Vein secret, adding a Dirty Rat to your hand.
Your opponent’s Dirty Rat battlecry then triggered, summoning your own brand new Dirty Rat.
You’re asking if it should have happened that way, given that you had no minions in hand when the dirty Rat was played?
I’m guessing it’s correct, but I’m not 100% sure.
It looked very weird in-game.
Since azerite vein reads “When” it’s in the “Whenever” range of effects.
Whenever effects trigger before the battlecry of a minion is resolved, so the secret triggers between your opponent playing the minion, and the minion’s battlecry taking place.
