Auto-squelch will never happen. Here's another solution

I believe what we truly desire is not to silence our opponents, but rather to prevent them from using emotes in a condescending and insulting manner that rubs their victory in the face of the defeated. Therefore, in my opinion, modifying the current emotes would be a preferable solution to implementing an automatic squelch feature. May I suggest the following emotes for consideration?

  1. You gave it your all and that’s all that matters.
  2. Tough loss, but you’ll bounce back stronger.
  3. It was a great match, and I have a lot of respect for your skills as a competitor.
  4. You may have lost the game, but you never lost your fighting spirit. Keep pushing and striving for greatness!
  5. Luck was definitely on my side today, but I know that you’re a fierce competitor and will come back even stronger next time. Keep up the great work!
  6. I have invested a significant amount of money into this game and have optimized my account to perform at its best. It may just be unfortunate for you to encounter an opponent who has made substantial financial contributions to their account.
  7. I am a streamer. My account is tweaked to the moon to trick viewers to believe that winning is easy. This makes it impossible for you to win. So, don’t feel bad.
  8. You are playing against a highly advanced bot. The developers have invested billion of dollars into creating an opponent with human-like behavior and superior card generating functions to prevent players from winning too often. While losing to this opponent may be discouraging, I encourage you to keep playing and improving your skills.

There you go. Please take these into consideration. Thank you for your time.

All HS taunts are PG rated at the worst. Toughen up buttercup. HS trashtalk got nothing on freeform irl.

Since the emotes are customized for each hero, making a unique version of each of those for each one would be a lot of work. Due to the voice acting required it would also cost a lot of money. Blizzard is deathly allergic to putting any money or effort into their games, so this isn’t going to happen.

Incidentally, auto-squelch requires very little to implement. It’ll also never happen, but for completely different (and equally pathetic) reasons.

But how will my opponent know my superiority if I ain’t allowed to taunt him???

Just squelch from the start if it’s that much of an issue.

That said, I’ve never really understood the argument for not having it automated given it’s an option that can be manually pressed at the start of every game…

Heres the ONLY solution:

But how can you pay control without the hero power emote turn 2 play.

It isn’g about what rating it is, it is why they won’t remove it. They know taunting will induce people with baby rage problems to spend more money on packs to try to beat that person. They have psychiatrists on staff whose sole job is to figure this stuff out. It is horribly predatory by design, and that is why it is a problem.

It isn’t THAT taunts exists, it is WHY taunts exists and are not perma-mutable…

Just make it to where you can permasquelch the audio taunts, but when you do it autmomatically brings up the picture emotes from BGs instead. This will allow the opponent to know they have been squelched and can only really proceed to be unsporting using whatever emotes they have access to in BGs. You could very well ignore the many tiny emojis of a paladin with its fist up at you as much as you like and it would never cause an audio file to get played to distract you in any way. Also the ones abusing the audio taunts would lose interest in doing so knowing they have been squelched into using their BG emojis.

All these suggestions will be implemented by blizzard with a single voiced line for every class of “I’m so sorry for your tears”.

This is peak delusion.

there is another one but the same people who want autosquelch care a lot about what minions say

No, I truly do desire to silence to increase my relaxation and enjoyment of the game.
