Played Runes of Darkness in Arena as Mage/DK but didn’t get any option to discover a weapon. No Random weapon was generate. This was a close game and I lost due to this.
Your portrait determines your class for discover purposes in the dual class arena. Mage doesn’t have any weapons in the current area pool
Based on other discovers it should discover a Death Knight weapon, like if you are a mage and cast lightening reflexes you get Shaman cards
Lightning Reflexes specifically discovers nature spells, so it is not class restricted.
Runes of Darkness just says “discover a weapon”, therefore it follows the default class restrictions. And as @Skizzy pointed out, Mage has no weapons in this card pool.
I think Lightning Reflexes is bugged. There’s no indication that it should offer Shaman cards to other classes. As far as I know, it’s the only card that works like that (with the exception of discovering a secret as a non-secret class)
but mage has no nature spells so it defaults to shaman but if you are a rogue you get deadly poison. In the same way if it has no weapon it should default to death knight. Another example is Hidden Objects, if your class does not have a secret you get mage secrets. Unless weapons have their own logic
I thought so as well, butt the card only says discover a weapon. Should’t it be a weapon from any class then? Otherwise the text seems wrong.
Discover only pulls from class cards and neutrals unless the card states otherwise, such as with Discovery of Magic ( Discover a spell from a spell school you haven’t cast this game (from any class))
That’s just an example of inconsistency with the discover pools management.
They made an exception for all cards that discover secrets to always offer secrets from the class of the card if your class doesn’t have secrets.
Yet they have not done the same for discovering other specific cards that not eveyr class have access to
same just happened to me … warlock deathknight and yes the card has always given random choices of weapons … now 3 times in a row it has failed for me and cost me the game … WTH
No, I don’t believe so.
“Discover a spell” offers only class spells.
“Discover a minion” offers only class/neutral minions.
Why would “Discover a weapon” behave differently? It’s the exact same wording.
