Arena Just go Face

I’ve moved to Arena recently because I’ve been getting sick of constructed and it honestly just feels the same. Everybody goes face, and if you want to win you just go face as well. Even classes like Mage and Priest just play super agro with face… I wonder if there are any ways blizzard can change this?

Players go with whats the most logical/effective.
As you progress further after 3 or more
keys you might get a different level of players.
Do your research, pick your cards carefully and dont play arena when your tilted.

I usually get from 5-7 keys (Just enough to go infinite with daily quests). 2 games ago I went to key 11 with face demon hunter. I generally like playing the value late game so it’s annoying when a mage smorcs me to victory. I usually look at Hsreplay as well as carefully crafting my deck but recently HS hasn’t really rewarded my playstyle.

What is your style if may ask?
Do you synergy or just look for pure value?

Both, though I generally pick pure value over synergy because of inconsistencies (nature of the game mode). I dislike hand dumping and generally pick the heavier mana cards with greater value (marsh hydra, Ruffian, omega devastator, cards of those nature). I usually include 2-3 cards per low mana (2-3 1 mana cards, 2-3 2 mana cards, so on). Oh and I put heavy emphasis on discover

U talk in such a way that makes it look like as if people needed to wait for 5 turns until u finally assembled a combo to play.

Isnt arena meant to be played that way?

Guy who was helping me with how to play arena told tempo play is better because its more reliable to draft solid tempo deck instead of good value deck or deck with powerful synergies.

He told me to practice tempo play and that actually gave me some solid results (Im not some 12 wins guy, though I can still score 10 here and there, but mostly around 6). Basically get board advantage and try to keep it that way, so opponent has to answer your board, then keep smashing face while trying to maintain upper hand on the board.

Yea of course its both that was dumb of me to ask.
I usually go after picking my desired class.
First 10-11 cards just whats in current meta.
What I do next is that I synergy 14 cards with my first 11 cards may that be few 1-2 drops or more or like you said whats in the nature of the mode.
For example created by tactic and the more you have it the better right?
And the last 5 cards is just pure value or what im missing/lacking the most of.
I wont lie to you. Sometimes I feel like Iv build the BEST deck so far but in the end it is my incompetence that gets the best of me.
My best run was getting 9 keys thanks to this tactic.
I just want to share my experiance with you.
Try it if you want. But if your already doing 5/7 runs with an ease then you do a lot better card sorting then I ever would.
As knowledgeable as you are right now Im sure you know whats best for you.

To be fair, in a random mode where you opponent can have potentially 5 (or more) flamestrikes, giving them time to draw them puts you in danger of losing the board.

In a mode where you may not draft any board clears yourself, this is almost a guaranteed loss.

I love control-style play but even I’m trying to be more aggressive in arena.

So this, don’t give em a chance to get rollin’

I almost do no combos because it relies on more rng than I would like but instead go for cards that have removal capabilities (Twin Tyrant, Ruffian, Troll Firebat) and stall. I use my health as a resource to eventually outlast my opponent (I can outlast because of all the discovery cards). This works if I don’t die too early or loose the tempo too hard.

Yep, cards that immediately impact the board (or remove minions completely) are great tempo in arena.

Additionally, big stats (protodrake) can be good but are really slow and in this discover-heavy mode, they can make or break the game for you if the opponent has an answer. I’m starting to shy away from high cost minions that don’t immediately do something.

Ohh that makes sense! Thanks!

Calling everything Face Face Face is oversimplifying. The game is about Tempo because Tempo lets you snowball, snowball lets you control, control lets you Face. The reason “Face decks” are so effective is not because they do nothing but Face all day. Its because they get an early lead snowball and then have the luxury to go Face to end the game ASAP.
