Arcane Overflow + Mo'arg Artificer Bug

Hello, I have played Arcane Overflow in an enemy minion with 6 HP, dealing 16 damage due to the presence of the enemy Mo’arg Artificer. But the minion summoned by Arcane Overflow was only a 2-2 minion instead of a 10-10 minion. So the Arcane Overflow counted its original damage instead of the modified damage value caused by Mo’arg.

Yes, because Arcane Overflow only did 8 damage. Read Mo’arg Artificer again, and you’ll see it doesn’t change the damage done by the spell, but the damage the minion takes. Those are two different things.

The wording on on arcane overflow says “Summon a remnant with stats equal to the excess damage.” Even if what you’re saying is technically how they intended for it to work, it’s causing Arcane Overflow to not work as it reads which is problematic.

The excess damage is still 2. The excess damage Arcane Overflow deals is based on how much total damage the spell deals, not how much the minion takes. To suggest otherwise would be to imply that despite only dealing 8 damage at maximum, it is possible for the spell to deal more than 8 damage in excess.

This interaction comes up every single time they print a spell that has an effect based on excess damage, and had been known to be working as intended since piercing shot was printed. Regardless of whether it seems intuitive, it’s not a bug if the designers want it to work this way. The most you can say is that it’s poor design/wording.

it says deal 8 damage so the math is done based on the card text
