Why is mage stuck with 3 mana draw 2, do nothing in 2023?
Other classes have miles better early draw.
I think it is way past time mage had some kind of early draw that is at least equivalent to other classes.
Am I right or wrong? I’m sure you will all let me know:)
So, let’s hear it:)
Because this is a free basic card, an Mage’s can wait for the new Epic card… Arcane Nova Detonator! 3 Mana Arcane Spell Draw 3 Cards, each spell that is Arcane drawn AoE’s the board for 1 damage each. Epic rarity card.
Such as? Every class except Druid has a “3 mana ‘draw’ 2” type of card right now and Arcane Intellect has been one of the best draw cards since Classic. For comparison you have the trash that is Mana Tide Totem for Shaman or Light of the Phoenix for Warrior.
The only class that you can argue has a better general purpose draw in the same slot is DK. And even that is arguable. Early/mid game Baron is okay, but it gets worse in late game. The opposite is true for AI. Usually when you run draw it means you want cards and you want it NOW. Other than that I find other cards have deck building restrictions that are just a little too heavy in comparison. I mean, did DH run Abyssal Depths outside of meme Big decks even after they buffed it? Or Service Bell for Paladin?
I do make a small distinction between draw and cycle though.
Evocation sir finley draw solved
Well, maybe I’m not labeling it correctly in calling it draw.
But DK can draw 2 for 2 with Defrost.
DH can draw 1 and attack for 2 for 2 mana.
Hunter can draw up to three for two.
Pally can heal for four, and draw a card for 2.
Priest can AOE heal and draw a card for one.
Rogue has so many one mana draws I won’t bother describing them all.
Shaman has multiple 1 mana and two mana draws.
And so does Warrior.
I am failing to see how three mana, draw two, while doing nothing that turn is as equitable as you say.
Personally, I feel like Refreshing Spring Water back to 4 would be fine (same with Questline back +3 spell damage). The nerf to Spring Water and Mage Quest was pointless after Incanter’s Flow and Cram Session rotated to Wild.
Mage has a two mana draw 2 with an easy activation and 3 minions with 1 mana or free targeted draw.
Mage draw is fine. Its only current problem is the lack of strong late game finishers. But that’s not mage-specific, it’s the dumb combo meta they’ve been pushing for the last 2 years.
You have lost me, Wiz. What card do you mean?
Gifts of Azshara, 2 mana draw a card, if you played a Naga while holding this, do it again.
Mallenroh: everything is broken this not fun!
Also Mallenroh: Make my old mage cards broken too!
it’s a naga deck only card. Not the same thing at all.
Well, if everything is gonna be broken, why should mage be saddled with inadequate draw?
Not the same as… what exactly?
Because, according to you, that’s not fun. Pretty sure lots of people share your sentiment about how the game keeps getting worse and worse precisely because of the “make things broken then nerf them” paradigm.
This is true.
But again: In a world where broken is the new normal, Mage needs better draw.
You’re right, they have a 3 mana draw 3 that can be played as early as turn 1 for 0 mana.
This card is the nuts, way better than arcane intellect.
Except again, you yourself have said that direction has not been good for the game.
“Everybody murders so let’s be murderers too”
And you haven’t answered what draw other classes have that you’re envying so much.
If it was a death knight card it would be 3 mana draw two cards reduce cost by 2 and heal your hero for 6 and deal damage to the enemy hero for 5 and freeze the board.
I did, but it is necessary to read the entire thread for that.
What card is this, please?
You know very well what the card is. And it has full synergy with your deck.
I’d be interested to know what the card was too. I was thinking Sorcerer’s Gambit quest where the 1 mana 2/2 reduces it to zero because technically the quest provides a drawn spell, a discovered spell and the quest reward, but couldn’t make sense of the 3 mana draw 3 part.
I don’t know what Bee is talking about.
I just looked through every Standard mage card with draw.
Edit: So Bee is talking about Rigged Faire Game I think.
A Wild Secret card, and of no use in Standard.
I suppose I should have made clear that I was referring to Standard.
At any rate; draw for mages in Standard was what I was discussing, so maybe now We can all be on the same page.
In 2023 Standard, AI at 3 mana, draw 2, and do nothing, seems weak at best.
